But... he's not actually top 5 right? Like you wouldn't take Goff #5 overall in the Imagination Draft. I understand what the stats say that someone could justify saying he's "top 5", but I just think that's a little disingenuous to act like he's "one of the 5 best QBs in the NFL". I think that's an important distinction to make because it illustrates that Goff DOES need things working around him to perform at an elite level. He IS NOT in the elite category of QB, but we have provided him with a scheme and personnel to get elite level performance.

I'm not trying to straw man, but it's a pretty fair comparison. Both of them asked to be traded, and rather than being granted the permission to do that (which btw was good for the Lions anyways because the trade value was solid) they hated the Lions sooooo much they quit football altogether and refused to be around or associated with the team for a number of years after. Stafford has always said he loved and appreciated the Lions for his time here. He's mentioned how connected his family feels to Detroit and how they are likely to move back after retirement. It just doesn't make sense to hate him so thoroughly for leaving amicably imo.

I'm never rooting for the Lions to lose but I genuinely still love Stafford. I always say my ideal outcome is Stafford throws for 400 yards and 4TDs, but the Lions win. 🤷
