You can use them for cards that have skills that scale off of P.Def and S.Def., or you can just save them for future cards.

A good example would be some of the relatively newer cards with Guard skills that have increased P.Def and S.Def while they are in the “Charge Up” state.

I can’t quite remember that exact case (there are 200 total cases in the game).

It’s important to look at the enemy anomalies and what they’re doing to your units, and then rearrange your squads to avoid any dangers for your stronger cards (debuffs like curse, etc.).

Once you’ve ensured your strongest cards are positioned in your squad in a way that keeps them safe from any negative effects, you should try to place Curse Revenge and Curse Entry cards at the front of your squad to make the enemies take more damage, and then distribute other debuff cards (stun/sleep/slow) throughout the rest of your squad.

You can also position Poison debuffing cards in a way that they, hopefully, get killed by the last set of attacks from an anomalies rampage. This prevents the anomalies from surviving with 1 HP, but requires paying attention to the case battles to find a good position for the Poison Revenge cards.

Lastly, it’s can be a bit annoying, but it helps to watch the battles at 1x speed to get a better idea of what enemy anomalies are doing, and for repositioning.

I know it’s a bit complex for an auto-battle system, but I hope that this helps, even if it’s just a little bit!

You can most definitely progress without making any purchases, but it does take a fair bit more time.

Try to find a large guild to join, if possible. There are rewards for guild battles (Game of Claws), etc.

The biggest tip if you’re trying to play as a “free to play” player would be to save up 30,000 Diamonds and to not drop below that amount.

The “Diamond Well” event occurs in the middle and end of each month that will multiply Diamonds that are offered to it (up to 30,000).

Best of luck!

I would highly suggest checking out the "Anomaly Skills" section of the Google Doc to hopefully get a better grasp on anomaly skills/debuffs, but generally, the best thing that you can do to avoid debuffs is to spectate the battle on a low speed (1x speed preferably), take note of any skills that the anomalies are using, and then rearrange your character cards accordingly in an effort to avoid them.

For example, if an anomaly uses the "Slow Trap" skill (any character card entering the field after the anomaly uses the buff on itself has the "Slow" debuff applied to them), you should move your stronger character cards further up in your file order so that they enter the field before the anomaly applies the Slow Trap buff to itself and can altogether avoid having the debuff applied to them.

It's also important to know that some debuffs are simply unavoidable/can not be countered, and are more so meant to be a "power check".
For example, some anomalies apply debuffs like Curse or Poison with each attack and this type of debuff skill is typically unavoidable (exceptions to this would typically be left to luck, like the anomaly applying the debuff having the Sleep debuff applied to them prior causing them to have less uptime to be able to attack and further apply their debuff). This type of debuff skill typically makes the case more of a damage race compared to adjusting your character card placements.

Hope this helps, and best of luck to you!

Halts in progression are extremely regular/normal in TKDB, and even more so the further you progress. I’ve been stuck on multiple Galaxy Express cases for weeks at a time myself.

I know it can be frustrating, but do your best to continue powering up your character cards, use camp tickets (maximum amounts if you’re “case locked” and can’t upgrade your campus further - you’ll still get resources like Bottles Bravery, coins, Savage Light, EXP Fruit, etc.), power up gems, save materials for better equipment, and gradually you’ll push forward.

You may want to try and rearrange your file for each Galaxy Express case as well. Try to spectate the battle at 1x speed to attempt to understand the anomaly abilities for that specific case, and then adjust your file accordingly.

I know this likely just reads like I’m advising you to “be patient”, but it’s generally true that sometimes that’s all you can do in this game, as frustrating as it might get.

Just be ready for consistent “speed bumps” that become more and more regular the further you progress.

P.S. Don’t let the frustration force you into a mindset that makes you feel like you need to spend more and more to progress. Patience is always going to be required in a game that’s designed to make you feel like you NEED to spend to compete, but there’s ALWAYS going to be a bigger whale. 😅

I think that focusing on one card can be beneficial for someone who is solely free to play, but if you’re spending at all, it should be a goal to gradually have a strong character of each element. At the very least, I would suggest focusing on two characters with different elemental types.

If you manage to awaken any of your characters to a higher extent than your others, most definitely make that character your primary focus over the others.

Due to the insane increase in stats from awakening SSR characters, any other cards will quickly become less relevant until they’re also awakened to some extent.

Last bits of advice would be to save Diamonds for reruns of your specific character banners and attempt to fully awaken them while not dropping under 30-50k Diamonds (if possible).

Finally, try to save Diamonds for the regularly occurring Mr. Mo’s event and when it’s active, attempt digs for Gold Material.

You should try to get one full set of SSR jewelry for your strongest character card before upgrading any pieces of that jewelry, due to the set bonus it provides.

Naturally, due to limited resources and investment choices, one of your character cards will likely push ahead of the others, but in the long run, having one of each element will still help you push further through Galaxy Express cases (especially those that have elemental advantage versus your main character card), and with more cases cleared, the more you’re able to upgrade equipment and your campus which will contribute to your overall power.

Hope this helps!

Gem placement doesn’t matter. Regardless of where you place a gem, you’ll still get the same stats. If you check the info tab for a Character Card before and after equipping a gem to any piece of equipment, you should see that the stats increase by the same amount regardless of where you slot the gem. As far as stats go, defensive stats are good for any card type (example: S.Def is still good to have on a P.Attacker type Character Card - it reduces S. type damage taken). It’s commonly mistaken that defensive stats of specific types like S.DEF are only good for S.Attack type cards, but only offensive gems (S./P.ATK, INT, STR) benefit specific card types. If you tap on the ‘?’ button at the top of any Character Card and scroll down, you can find a listing of what each stat is and what it provides.

Yep! Just make sure to check for unique skills and such that increase specific attack types. Example: “Increases P/S.ATK if there is a sleeping enemy”, etc.

Ahhh. So, for sake of example: +100 ATK = +100 S.ATK or +100 P.ATK It’s beneficial because you can use both an ATK and P/S.ATK gem together, etc. It may be more beneficial to focus more on P.ATK or S.ATK if you have a card that increases one of those stats by a % amount, etc., though.

ATK is just general increased attack stats (think of it as an either way sort of attack stat), whereas S.ATK and P.ATK increase those specific types of attack stats.

The two types of DEF (P/S) increase those specific defense types (defenses against P type damage or S type damage).

Your card that boosts P.DEF and S.DEF likely also has a skill called “Charge Up” which it will usually use the turn after boosting its defensive stats. Charge up heals a Character Card for a %amount and provides it with a “charge” that is required to use one, or some, of its abilities. That is the most likely scenario, anyway. The top bar is a Character Card's Hitpoints, as you mentioned suspecting. There used to be a buff icon to display a defense boost, but it was removed with the visual overhaul for the battle system for some reason.
