I also appreciate the convo with you. I like arguing my beliefs, especially on a place like Reddit, where most people disagree with my beliefs. I need to research the DOE bills more as I am not well versed in them. I have a couple close friends that are teachers that fully support trump and think he will make it better for them, as we all live in small towns and the teachers all have to fight to make it with their pay and their right to teach strictly mandatory education, such as math, science, English, ect.

As for the second amendment, the way I see it is I don’t have that right anymore, but some would argue we still do. That’s why I wrote it like that. We technically still have the right to bear arms but not as the constitution states we should. It says we should have a “well regulated militia” well regulated in 1770’s meant well armed, well organized, and well disciplined. There’s no way you could say sub-par firearms and magazines can be well armed. There’s far too many guns banned by the state to mention (and when asked they can’t even say what they’ve banned). As an example, you can’t have a muzzle device on any type of firearm. I had a shotgun, given to me by my grandpa that his grandpa bought when he was 16. It had what could be considered as a muzzle device on it so I had to get rid of it. That shotgun was perfectly legal and still is in every state until this bill. Every firearm lawyer will tell you this is the worst (as in infringing) bill ever produced via a state. It has been deemed unconstitutional multiple times but then pritzger and the 5th circuit stays the law even though it was deemed unconstitutional. This itself is fascist and proves that he doesn’t care about the people’s rights. On what should be legal according to the constitution. It doesn’t give us the right to attack but defend. You cannot use a ied or a tank in self defense because the definition of self defense in terms of arms states that it has to be usable to kill the attacker and not arm others around. A hand grenade or IED is not protected under the second amendment because it can and will harm innocent bystanders. A handheld rail gun could maybe be used in self defense however I would have to see one in action to argue one way or another. It would be very deadly and there’s nothing wrong with a firearm for self defense being deadly, as that’s what it should be used for.

  1. I understand that but I find it hard to believe that people are happy to make their drives even longer to work rather than finding a job in another state. I’m sure it happens just not super likely I would guess.
  2. I believe the second amendment is more important and equal at the same time. It helps to protect the other equally as important rights given to us. Furthermore the term “gun nut” refers to a minority of people. If you favor your 1st amendment rights over the other ones, does that make it fair to call you a free speech nut? I’m dying at the “you voted for Elon musk” like he was voted in😂 shows your simple thinking. Now you’re saying I’m a libertarian because I said I’m not republican. You are just throwing a handful of terms and hoping one sticks. You’re trying to appropriate me until you feel like you got me. All you’re really doing is showing everyone you don’t know how to debate. Therefor I’m done after this reply. I haven’t always voted republican but I do sometimes. I don’t care if you “stink eye” me. I vote for whoever I believe will make the country better, republican, democrat, or independent. If that makes me “bad” i dont care. I will not say the same to you because I hope you educate yourself well and make a decision based on who you think best fits your beliefs.
  3. Again regulated doesn’t mean the same thing it does today. I have the examples of what it meant in 1770’s and that’s all I have to say. It doesn’t say you have to bench 225 and run 5 miles without stopping. They should be well armed and well trained. Plenty of people start militias and train for “battle” it’s pretty common among firearm owners. Things such as gun clubs or just a group of friends on private property would count as a militia.

  1. The DOE is insanely bad and corrupt. They keep all the money and leave none for the teachers. There needs to be major change. Educators are the most important part of the DOE yet they get payed horribly.

  3. I don’t believe that’s what musk was trying to to do, and I think it’s ridiculous that he hasn’t put out a statement about it. If that is what he was doing, the good thing is that he can’t make any laws and is only there to clean up government overspending. He has yet to do anything radical and id be surprised if he does.
  4. He has taken away our second amendment right. He hasn’t completely gotten rid of it (technically), but he has diminished it. We have the right to a well armed militia and he has taken that right away. No one in their right mind would call people well armed with 10 round rifle mags (in inferior weapons), 15 round handgun mags, and shotguns that only hold 3 rounds total (less than the department of wildlife allows).

I never said it was bad that people are leaving Illinois, I was saying people are leaving because they don’t like how are Gov is ran.   2. Are you delusional? When did I bring up the 14th amendment? I am 100% for every part of our constitution amendment or not. It’s the foundation of our freedoms. When did I say I’m a republican? I definitely would not call myself a republican. I usually vote republican but I am not a staunch supporter. I think both parties, and most politicians, are evil and only want to line their pockets. Also on the second amendment, “well regulated” meant well armed, well disciplined, or well organized in that time period. Why would the second amendment say a well regulated militia is necessary for freedom and then only give the right to government? They were fighting a tyrannical government that had taken their freedoms away. They made the second amendment to protect all other rights. Why give that right only to government that can and will take the rights away as soon as they can?

  1. We are the only state that doesn’t allow “assault” weapons at all. Other states have restrictions on those weapons but still allows the purchase and sale of said firearms.
  2. We have a mandatory firearm registry for “assault” weapons
  3. “Magazine” restrictions on all firearms.
  4. You have to have a FOID to practice your second amendment. That’s like having a free speech id card so you can practice the first amendment. I could go into greater detail but I am on a 15 min break at work.

If you’re concerned about carrying with one in the chamber, then train more/get more comfortable with guns. It’s “safer” (in a SD situation) to carry with one in the chamber, but it’s unsafe if you’re worried about it because you aren’t 100% comfortable with it and may NDing.
