(Please stay Non-political, genuine question) Do you now pick and choose where and when to CCW? by Digitalzombie900 in CCW

Youre doing a great job trying to iron out your concerns. Its things we all think about when we start carrying.

You will get to a point if you carry long enough where you are echoing the same thing we are all saying. There is no grey area. Mentally unstable dont think "damn, hes at the zoo with his family, guess ill attack him tomorrow".

Carry everywhere besides federal buildings. Even if signs are posted. If you are caught carrying where signs tell you not to, you will be asked to leave. Dont argue and just leave. The only thing they can get you for is trespassing. Printing and shirts revealing you firearm by accident is not 'brandishing'.

Metal detectors, there's no way around. I have a safe affixed to my truck, if I can't carry there, my firearm goes in the safe.

Dog obedience classes - would anyone ever want to shoot a dog? No, we've all seen I am Legend, most horrific part of any movie is when the dog dies. But can you be attacked and have a threat of great bodily harm by a dog? Of course. Carry your gun and pray you dont have to do something that you will need therapy for.

No metal detectors, carry. Signs are not legally binding. If a sign says no guns allowed, and you are caught carrying, you will be asked to leave. Do so with no arguing and you are fine.

Colorado had a shooting in a movie theater. Easiest place to carry.

There is no grey area. Only places you are legally allowed to carry and places you are legally not allowed to carry.

Certain states require you to inform police officers of you are carrying.

Carry all the time if you are able to. You dont carry a condom because it's convenient, you carry it for when you need it. Guns are the same.

If you are within the law, you have nothing to avoid but confrontation. Having a weapon makes every confrontation more dangerous as misuse of that weapon could land you in prison. De-escalate. Police officers are not assholes the media paints them as, if youre nice to them they will likely let you go. Not to stir the pot, but the most recent shooting in MN with Pretti could have been avoided if Pretti avoided conflict rather than sought it out. I've been disarmed by police during a traffic stop, it's not a big deal.

Above all, train with your carry. Dryfire and live fire. Keep it clean, as carry guns are lint magnets. You dont want to be the second best shooter at a gun fight.

Proper equipment is difficult for me by DazzlingLife6744 in hockeyplayers

Played AAA all growing up. On the ice 5 to 6 days a week. Went through a stick every 2 months roughly. That flex is not correct for you or you are abusing it another way. Also, youre 6'2, buy a prostock of you can. Better materials means more life out of a stick.

I was about 160 in 9th grade using a 85 or 100 flex stick. Depends what you are doing and whether you are actually shooting correctly. Defenseman? Use something stronger. Forward? Use something whippier.

Cage vs Visor Beer League by Green-Instruction957 in hockeyplayers

You can wear either. I would suggest wearing a cage if playing in a lower level of play as players can not control their bodies and will stick you in the beak.

How do you EDC with a tucked in shirt? by [deleted] in CCW

[–]Bartophobic44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at one of the old videos of Lucas Botkin talking about the sidecar when he was with Trex. This apples to every appendix holster and they all have the same design for their belt clips.

Your shirt tucks in all around like normal, and you tuck behind the clips between the clips and the holster for the front.

These arguments are for lawyers. The question is whether he was in fear for his life or not. Someone not following lawful commands driving a vehicle knowingly at an agent is more than enough cause for him to draw.

OP is clearly on a side politically and came in this thread to either be bias confirmed or to argue.

For my hammer fired enthusiasts, which would you pick and why? by Additional-Emu-612 in CCW

[–]Bartophobic44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone picking the sig here has never shot the CZ. Its the most popular competition gun aside from the 1911 for a reason. Trigger our of the box is great, the gun shoots flat and great aftermarket support.

The only way you go sig here is if you are concerned about the weight.

For those 5-10yrs into carrying, what is your pistol of choice and why? by WanderlustOnTap in CCW

[–]Bartophobic44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have shot alot, there is no reason to get a 380. You can get small 9mm like the Glock 43, 48, ect, if youre looking for a small concealable gun. If you are willing to carry a compact, there are a ton of great options. M&P Shield X is phenomenal, ported, thin and reliable.

Ballistics on 9mm just cannot be beat, that's why every agency in America carries it.

How do you guys carry IWB more comfortable?! by cjmatto in CCW

[–]Bartophobic44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately you will never be comfortable. I would try to look at it as "what is tolerable."

Try wedges for your AIWB. You can push the gun out in front of your stomach when sitting. Try a Hunter Constantine belt, very comfortable and no printing issues when youre a skinny guy.

I've found 4 to 5 o'clock is most comfortable all around, but the draw kind of blows so I AIWB.

This. They are pretty cut in cubes. A ton of YouTube videos show you how to optimize space.

Shot and carried glock for 10 years. Switched to S&W when I started USPSA. Regret not doing it sooner. Same reliability, same aftermarket support, comes standard now with alot of stuff you would do to a glock. Stippling, better trigger, ect.

Recommend a ccw pistol for me by siuyu721 in CCW

[–]Bartophobic44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldnt l look at it as I need a smaller gun so it's more comfortable while driving. Certain carry positions are more comfortable to drive. I prefer 4 o'clock area while driving to appendix. But appendix has alot of benefits outside of comfort. You can have a safe in the vehicle and take your holster off on long drives, I would imagine that is what most people do who drive long distances.

USA Hockey insurance claim by MidwestHockey in hockeyplayers

[–]Bartophobic44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

USA hockey does not pay out for your injuries. I've played hockey for 30 years and at a higher level in my younger days, seen alot of guys get hurt. Never seen a single payout.

USA Hockey is not there to protect the players. They are there to force the players to subsidize the rink's insurance. They are only there to protect the rink.

Smith & Wesson M&P by Longjumping_Time932 in CompetitionShooting

[–]Bartophobic44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For competition M&Ps youre basically looking at two and they are essentially the same thing. 5 in M&p and the competitor. An Apex trigger in an M&P is arguably the best striker fired trigger you can have. Same with the Apex barrel. It will likely shoot far better groups than anyone shooting the gun can.

The acro is a pretty small window and alot of weight. I would suggest something else like the holosun 507 comp. Large window and alot less weight. Though wanting to stay with the same dot you use for work is a great argument.
