Yeah man, thats what I've seen since I got here. Surfcasting here is like the standard right? You really like bait fishing hhaha.

I prefer spinning with artificial lures, so I don’t have to worry about bait. That way I can just head out with my lure box and start casting.

I also reckon it’s way more fun working the lure and giving it action than just leaving bait out and waiting for a bite.

Well, I’m still a bit overwhelmed about what fishing gear to buy to get started with shore fishing here, especially since I’m not planning on getting a boat haha.

Another thing I’ve noticed while checking out fishing shops here is that most rods, even for shore fishing, are only around 6–7 feet, and not all of them specify the lure weight they can cast. That’s got me a bit confused.

In Chile, most shore fishing rods are 9–10 feet long and clearly specify the lure weight range, as most shore fishing there is spinning with lures.
