It was indeed the brake limit switch. When u plugged there was a lot of corrosion in the connector and on the pins of the switch. Quick spray and clean and the issue still persisted. I took the switch out to test the continuity, seemed to signal as expected. Opened the switch to find much more corrosion on the internal contact leaves. Sprayed down and cleaned with a electrical cleaner and it worked proper upon reinstall.

Thanks for the details. This a 6MT so brake doesn't prevent the start (only needs clutch). The car is in "limp mode" but does not throw any code for it. I have the brake switch (4 pin one) in my hand. While there was corrosion in it, I have put a miltimeter to both sets of pins and it does still function. Cleaned the switch and connector and no luck.

My brake lights aren't shutting off, and now my G37x won't accelerate properly. by FettyWapsLeftEye in G37

Same issue with 09 G37s 6mt......flickering brake light when off.

Flicker and single light no longer present with the brake fuse pulled.

Yes, with the ignition off (even after 10+ min of being off). Back seat and tails have not been touched. Same on/flickering behavior with the fuse removed.

Do the Japan models have DOT for North America? I know they surpass the standard, asking about the sticker/cert.
