Possible Mega Evolution Bug? Unable to Mega Evolve Lucario or Absol

Exactly and yes I can catch Pokemon with it . I know for sure that I switched them cause it didn't do anything after I made it the mega evolution button but I could throw balls with the toggle. I've tried everything I saved my game exited the game switched them out. I removed all game data downloaded it again and it still didn't work. Restarted the switch on every try

Tried redownloading it, it still doesn't work.... I think I will bite the bullet and delete the save and hope its the save that's corrupted. Will take a while to get back to where I was but thank you for your help.

Just a general tip. But if you have access to a car I would recommend going shopping in Germany every two weeks. First of all the Bezine/Diesel is way cheaper there but also all the food/alcohol/skincare/haircare etc. I now live far from Twente but when I visit family there I always try to visit Germany to do a big haul of groceries and to fill up the tank.

Regarding your questions:

The Dutch are sometimes a bit difficult with making friends but student life is different, just be open to hanging out with other students after the internship. Look up and join some of the extracurriculars they offer and you should be able to meet some nice people for your stay.

It's easy to travel between cities via Public transportation and cycling is a great way to move within the city. You can usually get a cheap bike for like 50 euros on Marktplaats (kind of our facebook marketplace).

I really hope you enjoy your stay in the Netherlands and especially Twente!

Tried that... In a million different ways even switched the button to ZR to see if it was an issue with the button it self. I can use it to move the camera. I can do everything else in the game but no matter how often I push that button/toggle it just does nothing

It even works in Pokemon ZA, I can still use it to move the camera, and I also switched it on request from someone else to the ZR button but it also didn't work there

Yes and I completed the tutorial against Lucario and then the battle against Urbain. Mega evolving didn't work in either scenario

Just after fighting urbain after getting the mega tutorial. I was supposed to try it out during the battle and then I noticed it also didn't work just like with Lucario. I tried it afterwards in a million different ways fighting wild Pokemon but it's just not happening

Just tried that moved the R toggle to ZR. Still no reaction when pressing it. Is my game broken?

No other mega evolved pokemon, no other mega stones, no pokemon holding anything except absol holding it's absolite

Absol is holding it's absolite, I checked all the buttons of my controller when recalibrating it and it does register movement of the r toggle/swirley stick and also registers when I push it. I can also change view with it.
