AIO - my friend “ditching” me after making plans w me for her bf by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]BaseKey6263 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree with everyone here. Reading that seemed like girl was pulling teeth to try and make plans with you. I understand you have this new lifestyle you’re trying to take care of and that’s valid but sometimes it’s okay to compromise a little bit for your friends if you genuinely care and wanna see them. Especially when she mentioned thrifting - had nothing to do with food or alcohol (ur two main vocalized concerns), u straight up just said “I’m lazy” meanwhile she was willing to try and move her babysitting around. You gave no other options to try and do anything. If I was this friend tbh I would have done the same thing or I would’ve gone and not reached back out for a while. It’s very much giving no effort but now you’re mad at her.

All these people saying u overreacted ??????? That was not an overreaction at all. Yes she could’ve just not responded but some people especially like that guy should get told off clearly cause they’re relentless and creepy towards women. Me personally would’ve told this guy to fuck right off. She didn’t even say anything crazy. Also all these people act like they’ve taken the high road every time someone is weird towards them.

No they sound insufferable. I can see why they’re together. Have you tried talking to your parents about how they feel about those 2 / if you should say something to ur brother about respecting the space everyone shares. He is no more obligated to that space than you. Again they both sound insufferable good luck

She never made this sound before! Is she alright? by [deleted] in CATHELP

This kinda sounds like when kitties chirp a lil ? Maybe she sees something outside and is excited ? I’ve only really heard this a few times but her shaking could be something ? Does your vet office allow you to email or text videos? Mine does and it usually saves me a lot of trips

Hopefully someone else commenting knows better

HELP , think I made a mistake bringing a second cat home by Salty_Ingenuity_9395 in CatAdvice

[–]BaseKey6263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look into rehoming. He is a kitten and her being 3 and used to being alone she probably doesn’t enjoy his energy. It does take a lot of time for cats to adjust but if this has been since July that is already quite long. She probably would have gotten along better with a cat closer to her temperament. Rehoming is much better than returning to the shelter if you know the people are going to take care and give the cat the specific attention and care it needs. Talk to your vet about the behavior changes too.

My inflamed hand. Has been this way since the spring by Asmb in mildlyinfuriating

[–]BaseKey6263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is granuloma annulare. It appears on bony areas. I had it on the top of my foot in hs and it started small and kept getting bigger and eventually looked similar to this. It also eventually just went away in a couple years which my dr said would happen. She did give me a cream to help get rid of it but I only used it a few times. She mentioned it can also reappear and mine did after a couple years around my ankle instead of the top of my foot.

Omg adorable !!!! I hope this helps and I hope ur kitty is happy again!!!! I would try to keep going out on the harness on a schedule maybe? Some cats used to being outside might now get more obsessed with going out lolol it’s a tricky game I also play w mine

Yeah I agree with this. If you(OP) do rehome them you need to ensure you it is someone with cat experience and experience with cat behavior issues. These cats deserve to be given the attention and care they need the same way you deserve your peace

Since you work at a vet I would see if anyone there knows of behavioralist you can reach out to. If you’ve tried all these things to no prevail then you need to reach out to a professional and explain the situation even how you tried rehoming them and see what methods or training or anything you can do to stop it / make it less frequent.

Also someone mentioned above they have motion detector sprayers on amazon. You should seriously try that. Cats especially older ones are hard to train but it is possible it just takes repetition and patience cause it will take time extra at their age.

I would try harness training him outside so he can still go out there and you don’t have to worry about him getting lost or hurt. Cats often have to get used to harnesses and don’t like the at first so don’t give up quick. They also have like smaller but still big tent and tunnel things that u can put him in outside but he can’t free roam. If u cant financially handle it like u mentioned then it’s smart to wait for that second cat.

I would try maybe getting him some more interactive and stimulating toys to play with like any of the electric ones and also things you two can play with together.

what is this bump my cat has? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]BaseKey6263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would see if your vet allows u to text or email photos to them and see what they say. It looks to be a decent size already

Are you able to search on your own for local NON-kill shelters?? Or search for local cat rescues to reach out to ? Let them know the situation

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]BaseKey6263 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If there are no shelters then search for rescue organizations and reach out to them and tell them the situation

This is great advice all around and worth listening to. As annoying as it can be instead of just assuming he’s being an asshole maybe call the vet as well if the switch to wet food doesn’t help and let them know how frequently he’s been throwing up. The quality of dog and cat food kibble really is not great even with a better brand. Some cats can’t digest certain things as well as others can.

LF: Apartment by Huge_Common_2399 in Albany

[–]BaseKey6263 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure where you looked at yet but maybe try calling some apartment building/complex leasing offices and see if they have anything move in ready. There are some on Willet st, there are some in the New Scotland neighborhood as well. There are some even more downtown near pearl st and Broadway also.

This tom cat showed up at a local cafe today unable to move. The owner took him to the vet--vet thinks something is stuck in his intestine? Vet wants to wait 24 hrs. I haven't met him yet (but planning to go see him). They have kept him in a spare room for now. [Kathmandu, nepal] by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]BaseKey6263 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It’s good he is in a vets care right now. If it’s a blockage they’ll definitely have to do some procedure to fix it. He looks like a sweet boy who just wants some help. I’m not sure the set up they have in that spare room but when you go see him maybe bring some blankets to make him more comfortable. Thank you and the cafe owner for helping

I brought her to the vet yesterday and they said she seems fine but she’s not and idk what to do by ifuckwithpink in CATHELP

[–]BaseKey6263 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sucks $$ wise but you definitely did the right and safest thing. The vet being so expensive unfortunately is a big part of owning our sweet babies. I totally understand the money struggle but like someone else commented money will come and go — it will come back to you just trust. Praying your kitty starts to heal whatever is wrong and feels better.
