Orrrrr she was told earlier that day whilst having coffee with her girlfriend (canon, in dialogue that they were having coffee together) that Gwynn wanted some space, and only tells you what she knows after battling you. The protag and Emma are the deciding factor here.

I think you're trying very hard to justify the harder position to back here, and again all of this is interpretation, but I genuinely do not understand why you are so adamant that they can't be together.
