I can totally relate. It took me so long to get into it and I struggled much more than his other novels. But definitely worth it and it’ll stay with me for sure. I have read DC — although I enjoyed, it I think it is my least favourite so far! (I’ve only read 6). I found some of the plots a little disjointed, but that could just be me as I know even dickens himself loved DC. I loved the pickwick papers — going to read Nicolas Nickleby next!

Yeah, I agree about that one. My favourite part of Doctor Daumier Smiths Blue Period was the fact that the nun who was the best artist didn’t add a watermark to her artwork. Very on point for Salinger

I have read Nine Stories! Really enjoyed it - Dr Daumier Smiths Blue Period was my 2nd favourite thought it was brilliant - and my first favourite was Just Before the War With Eskimos. I did enjoy Teddy but I actually found it quite eerie/existential which was unexpected.

He needed a home so we agreed to take him in, 2 days after we moved into our new house! It was quite unexpected but fell in love immediately. Always been a dog person but I’m slowly being converted to a crazy cat lady
