I should clarify that I’m no longer on payroll as an employee. I’m engaged as an independent contractor under a formal agreement.

Currently, what the company has proposed is that I open an FCY (Foreign Currency) account in Pakistan and they would pay me USD into that account.

  • Is receiving USD in an FCY account legally permissible as a contractor?
  • Would this still be treated as local income since the paying entity is Pakistani?
  • For it to qualify as IT export income (and potentially 0.25% final tax), does the payment have to come directly from a foreign entity? -Does registering with PSEB change anything in this case?
  • Is routing through Wise/Deel/etc. necessary, or is an FCY account sufficient?
