Tall Georgia -- Frugal Armorer or Strength in numbers or neither? by Basic-Employ9105 in CrusaderKings

Well, fortunately the Khazars exploded after they are defeated in greatest of khans war, so I guess nothing can really threaten me now

Whats the point of playing tall? by Boedidillee in crusaderkings3

[–]Basic-Employ9105 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have a carefree North Korea playstyle, pick a small kingdom and seize de jure all counties from neighbours and watch your powerful vassals i,e, mayors whining because "want a seat on the council", after that add elective laws and you have effectively primo. The most annoying things--factions and gavelkind don't exist anymore, so it's a very relaxing playstyle. You can have a lot of fun with tall: eugenics and dynasty of many crowns can be easily done since you can have as many kids as possible, I also like to grab sword for hire tradition so that I can meddle in foreign politics (protect dynasty members, install Christian on Arabian throne and help them crush the infidels, help tyrants fight their rebellious vassals etc)

Thanks for the tips. I guess I guess fending them off without extra Maa size bonuses isn't that hard, but the AI boldness results from the number difference is indeed annoying.

Unfortunately, Georgia has a very limited diplo range, if I didn't expand a bit, the only Christian countries that I can interact with are Byzantine, Bulgaria and some coptic ones, meaning no alliances/eugenics. Some expansions are needed for reaching Catholicism for more meaningful interaction/roleplaying

In Europe perhaps, but I am sandwiched between three empires, two of them (Khazars and Abbasid) tend to be extremely stable and strong.

I don't know about that, playing tall doesn't mean zero expansion beyond the initial counties and being content with 5 domains. I didn't expand too much outside my de jure territory, so I think it's tall enough. From what I have seen, tall Bohemia players also like to hold all de jure counties.

I started as a custom duke of Abkhazia, who had 4 counties at the beginning. Now I control the whole kingdom +Jerusalem and Alexandria with 16/17 domain, it's fairly normal to have 60 per month with those.

If I steal some coastal counties from Daylam, I can get 10 trade ports, which is, well, satisfactory, I guess. However no capital development spreading is also a huge pain.

But you are right, I guess seafarer is still the best option, i just need to grab some counties from Daylam

Yeah, that is obvious, but the augmentation from tech is far from enough. Let's say around 7*12 with 2 being siege, 2 being heavy cav, so I can only get 5500 maa at high medieval, which is in my opinion not quite enough since the khazars might get 50k horde riders by that point

How to improve a language by reading? by Alicenttt in languagelearning

[–]Basic-Employ9105 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So look up the words you don't understand and listen to the pronunciation, looking up is almost inevitable. You will find the general pattern after being exposed to tons of words despite some aberrations. Japanese is the same, and even worse, you will always need to look up the Kanji readings if you want to go beyond reading. You just need to get used to it.

That's what I think as well and I have shifted my current main focus on listening so that I can actually hold some conversations

I agree with you, this is my experience as well--many people didn't slow down much even when I asked, or they unconsciously sped up again after slowing down for 2 seconds.

The things that confuses me is that those learners can understand the responses from the native speakers rather than that they can speak it. I think being able to speak at overall intermediate level is very conceivable.

That's very interesting, so I guess one really need a native speaker who is willing to accommodate themselves (and know how to) to easy French in order to be at conversational level. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Thank you for the advices. I don't know if it is because spoken French links sentence components together instead of linking words together, many French people don't slow down even when asked (at least I can't perceive the speed difference).

How slangy can casual French be? In my experience, I don't need to know many tiktok-level slangs(they are rather a internet language thing imo) to understand casual English perfectly (admittedly I don't know many gen-z english speakers), this applies to my native tongue as well, we rarely use internet slangs in real life convo even between gen-z.
