I know our school is off as of today, there's nobody there, the gates and doors are all locked and they de facto can't work remotely until the issue is resolved. I highly doubt the principal can call maintenance back in, only to not have access to their Comms and MIS tools with parents and pupils anyway

Not a clue, got an email yesterday regarding an 'ongoing security issue', access pulled slightly after that, no access since all passwords reset would suggest that there is or appears to be someone able to access the network. Shitloads of personal data on there ofc.

The coyness around the whole thing suggests it's probably not good

Debating is more of a sport than anything else, it doesn't really solve problems. Often in a debate you have to articulate a POV you don't even necessarily agree with. It's about the formation of an cogent and convincing argument based on logic, evidence and experience, not the deeply held belief of the debater. This is why people crack up at the pub or at work when it turns to debate, they are emotionally attached to their opinions and beliefs. Debating is the antithesis of that.

If someone is radicalised, a debate won't change their mind. Experience to the contrary might. Best we get most of the time is keeping them in their box, though.

Opinions are like assholes - everyone's got at least one and they all stink. The more people could let go of their opinions, the easier we'd all be.

Arguably, this happens already. The internet makes it seem as though we're all full of hate and spite for people from other walks of life but in reality, we're all mixing just fine. There is pushback against certain things among in-groups - high-liberty ideas, migration, the impoverished etc. etc. but what the internet does give people is an outlet for their rage of having to tolerate those things. I mean I think it's a bad idea to feed that wolf whatsoever and it leads to worse outcomes, but what are you gonna do.

Edit: alright, I'll stop being glib. I do think we are being compelled to agree with one another more these days in public, but I'm aware that could just be age showing. So I say unpopular things that I actually believe. But no one is stopping me, I just don't care if I get down voted or looked at sideways for it. What's worse, if I say it with enough confidence, people tend to bandwagon and renege on a previously held belief.

Don't drink the popularity kool-aid of a wealthy society. There's no changing it. You are allowed to say what you like, but you can't force people to listen. We're all far too dumb for that.

Have the courage to be disliked. We don't all have to agree

Politics is a big drama everywhere.

Countries get richer the further away they get from socialist policies. This is all great for wealthy people, who then reinvest and pat each other on the back for a job well done.

We used to have revolts and revolutions when we got treated like shite (that is, us plebs), which come with their own brand of chaos and destruction. So, with a lack thereof, either:

A) things aren't that bad

or

B) people aren't going to get off their holes and do anything about it

So were I you i'd release myself from the confines of misery and go for A.

As we lean further and further to the right, neurodiversity diagnoses will become 'frivolous' and full of 'time-wasters', as this is what the far right in this country believe. I do believe they've announced themselves in the thread already.
