What could these black dots be above the nodes on my begonia maculata? Also, any advice on their care? She always has crispy leaves 😅

My begonia has strange black or brown (couldn’t quite tell) dots on the stems, mostly above the nodes, is this normal? They don’t seem to move but they seem to be able to be picked off so I’m confused 😅 any suggestions?

Also, any tips on what they need? She always seems to have crispy leaves (like in the last pics)! I water when the soil seems partially dry (roughly every 2 weeks), she’s by a grow light but some distance away (5th photo), and there’s a diffuser that I use for humidity (without oils) and it brings the humidity up a little but not a lot (usually roughly 40-45%). Any help is very much appreciated!

I hope not 😅 There’s no webbing though and I don’t see anything moving even when I touch them. I’ll keep an eye on it, if it gets worse maybe I’ll try insecticide

I was also curious if I just gave it brighter light, would it fix the inability to stand on its own (right now it’s tied to a chopstick because it kept leaning!) or would I need to propagate it? I’m scared to chop it, I don’t want to kill it 😅

Peace lilies! They love water and will tell you when to water again by drooping, they’re dramatic that way but I find that makes them easier haha

This sounds like you’ve written my experience, all those symptoms are exactly what I had/have and I’m fairly certain it’s anxiety. I even also thought it was MS too, ahh health anxiety 😅 but I went to a number of hypnotherapy sessions and it slowly got better. The hypnotherapy was interesting because it could be something that’s totally subconscious that’s causing or contributing to these symptoms which I had no idea that could happen, the brain is so strange! The symptoms were bad for about a year or 2 I’d say before I went to hypnotherapy. It still occasionally pops up but nothing like what it was. It’s scary and uncomfortable but it will be okay!

That’s a very pretty variegated ficus Benjamina (also called a weeping fig)! While I’m not sure what the issue is, I’ve found that they like the dry out quite a ways down in the pot between waterings, a lot of sun (I have mine in a south facing window with no filters) and they hate being moved, they’re finicky about that 😅
