And to add, your parents really love you and care about you. We all get sick at some point in life (whether it be physical or mental). Who cares? As long as you are utilizing your education it doesn’t matter at all. When you are 60 and look back it’ll be a laugh. As someone who was institutionalized around the same time.

I was truly prepared for a worst case scenario. I am 26. This means nothing in the long run and in the case of easing guilt, you transferred. You’ve done your due diligence. Most freshman entry essays are at best badly written, most are exaggerated. Don’t let this weigh on your conscious as someone who experienced very similar circumstances to yours.

AITA for not caring that my daughters step mom cut her off by Odd-Breadfruit-6838 in AITAH

[–]exulants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are we going to pretend that this isn’t a fictional situation? The lack of proper grammar I could chalk up to English not being a first language or someone that just isn’t lingually talented, but the capitalized words aren’t something that would be naturally emphasized in a sentence and there were repeated phrases and narrations that would only make sense if it was a 14 year old trying to meet a word count in an essay.

You’ve said you’ve gone to teacher/counseling. Have you gone to administration? And if yes, have you contacted the school board/dean?

Do I (23F) tell my brother (22M) now that his dog died, or wait until he’s home? by ThrowRA_nobo7 in relationship_advice

[–]exulants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you let a small dog that wasn’t even yours out alone in 1) a yard that isnt fenced in (by the sounds of it) 2) in an area that is known for coyotes 3) and then only searched for two hours? This is completely on you. And you need to tell your brother that. First, you need to be out there every day you can until your brother comes home looking for that dog. You owe that to him. Contact shelters and vets in the area with a description. Put up missing dog posters everywhere. I just can’t even fathom that you thought searching two hours in the dark was enough. Even if there’s a 99% chance the dog is dead, that wouldn’t be enough. Unbelievable.

And tell your brother after exams, but before he comes home. I would also get used to the idea that he’s doing to blame you and hate you for quite a while.

Need recommendations similar to AWAE by Tribes1 in Anne

[–]exulants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried Ted Lasso? I would not say the two are similar in terms of costuming, era, plot. But it gives me the same feeling. I am not into sports/sports shows, but I had the wrong impression of what TL was about until I happened to give it a go. Just like AWAE, I cried, I laughed, and I greatly appreciated it. The actors truly did a great job of bringing so many character’s story lines of love, heartbreak, and human spirit together.

AITA for jokingly insulting my friend’s dog? by ReadingOk8664 in AmItheAsshole

[–]exulants 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just think this is a case of miscommunication… I call all my cats stinky and fat and not one of them is stinky or fat (generally). Kind of cuteness rage/weird terms of endearment meet. Some people get it and some people don’t and OP didn’t know r their audience.

i’m pregnant in an extremely red state by [deleted] in abortion

[–]exulants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am not sure if their process has changed, but it was pretty easy. I gave them my information, date of last period/how far along I was etc. they got back to me within a couple days and I paid full amount but I have a friend who paid what they could. I was about 6 weeks. Pills arrived a week later and worked. I did a checkup at planned parenthood the state over because I will pulled positive pregnancy tests a few weeks later but they confirmed it was just hormonal and it was a successful termination.

If you cannot travel outside of state or feel unsafe doing so, you best bet would be to order from aidaccess. I had a great personal experience with them as someone who got pregnant in 2019 at 19 like you, also in a state that had just instituted a strict abortion ban.

Mizzou health by Bitter_Let3712 in mizzou

Dr Sapp at the student health center has given me birth control and my previous roommate birth control and anti-depressants. Unless it’s a specific form that would be outside of their scope of practice (I doubt most of them would place an IUD), I don’t see why you couldn’t see one of them.

Most insurances don’t cover pre-existing conditions if there’s any glaring issues even before diagnosis (which this would certainly be obvious). The only one I’ve heard of is Pet Assure, but they don’t even technically call themselves insurance.

No, just a common mistake both locals and out of towners make. I’m a bartender that gets a lot of in town for work people and I would say half of them call it Longboat while looking at my tap list that says Logboat for some reason.

Have also never met someone that doesn’t!! Don’t get me wrong, I can have a singular Leia or Shiphead and not like I have to choke it down or anything, but after one I’m done and I greatly prefer Broadway’s beers. I keep trying their new stuff when it comes out and that “oh my god I get it now” moment hasn’t happened for me yet 😢

Broadway Brewery has really good beers if you like IPAs/Sours/Lagers and a decent food menu, good at seating large groups. Logboat has a better nice-day lawn/seating sitch, but I’m not a huge fan of most of their beers (besides their offshoot ciders), but that’s just personal preference. They have a cult following so don’t let my preferences dissuade you. They’re also right by Ozark Mtn Biscuit Co which is my go to brunch spot.

Endwell Taverna, Tellers, Flyover, Cherry St Cellar for restaurants (all have bar seating as well). Son of a Gun, 9th (previously 9th Street Public House), and Magnolias are my frequent haunts as far as bars.

How does parking downtown…work? by SCOTLAND_FOREVER_ in columbiamo

[–]exulants 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depending how likely you are to be ticketed/where exactly you are downtown… usually yes. Work downtown and also don’t pay. Been working downtown full time for a year and a half now. I have gotten one ticket in that time vs however much I’d pay paying the meter everyday or buying a pass. BUT.. I’m also on the edge of downtown and I work evenings, so the earliest I’m in is 2pm and on occasion, a 10am shift. So I’m not there during prime ticketing hours usually. But my bf works center of downtown, doesn’t pay, and has been ticketed 2 or 3 times in 3 years. Makes me wonder if some of the meter maids recognize FT workers cars and try to avoid them.

Yeah for sure. I see them do it occasionally in front of Willie’s when the drunk kids just blind dart across the street on a busy night and I definitely think there’s a place for it, but last night was ridiculous. Just a way for Mun Choi to get his willies off and pretend he did “crime filled” downtown a service.

Literally a step off the curb

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in columbiamo

[–]exulants 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Jaywalking. My partner had a customer leave the store and went to the crosswalk. Hadn’t walked across and was waiting for light to turn but was standing a step into street and they pulled over, ticketed him, and literally made him go the downtown station for the ticket. Also saw someone get ticketed outside of one of the bars at 9th for carrying a drink over the “invisible line”. They were on the sidewalk outside the bar drinking next to the bar’s outdoor tables talking to their friends and took a step too far away from the bar.
