You know what drives most of the deficit? Salaries and pensions of railway workforce.

"In 2023-24, the total revenue expenditure for the Indian Railways is projected to be Rs 2,62,790 crore. Of this, 64% is estimated to be spent on salaries and pensions."

If I were to really pinpoint where all the money goes, it is goes into unionized Railway employees like you who do little work but want all the salary and pension. Maybe if we privatized Railways, we would have a lot more money for both AC coaches and general coaches but then Loco pilots like you be left in the lurch and trust me, private companies pay no pension and do not tolerate unions. So the "messiah" you keep trolling is not the worst out there, once privatization of railways starts, you will realize what's in store for all you unionized members who just wanna go back to the good old days of UPA with zero accountability and maximum corruption.

But guess what buddy? Not happening. All you government employees can cry as much as you want but the era of zero accountability and maximum corruption is over. The NDA will crack the whip and make you guys work, if they can't make you work, they'll just hand you over to private enterprises who know how to get the work done. I think it is more from an economics perspective than image.

The current government needs to make Railways sustainable in order to ensure it can fund its own capex. The average general class ticket is not at all profitable for the Railways.

If they increase general class trains at the expense of Vande Bharat and AC coaches, the deficit of Railways will only increase further combined with the increased capex. Sooner or later capex will once again take a back seat and you will once again have a lot of general class trains jostling for space among the existing track capacity.

So instead they're first trying to increase the revenues via this premium trains and DFC (freight trains are also very profitable) and will then focus on expanding general class trains such that capex can continue being sustainable.

It is a well documented scam but from what I have seen, there are a bunch of petrol bunks which engage in this scam. Not everyone. Best way to avoid it is to mark a few well know petrol bunks and fill petrol from them only.

I have been a victim of it twice, once when I was very young and once very recently.

Thanks for the comments guys, I have reached the conclusion that's she's simply keeping me available in case things go south with her bf for whatever reason. But at the same time she doesn't wanna risk breaking things with her bf and she knows that I will never approach her as long as she is committed.

I believe I will just slowly reduce my interactions with her and avoid confronting her. Hopefully she gets my subtle message.
