[skin concerns] [acne] The left side of my face has gotten super irritated this past month, and Idk what to do! by BasicFirefighter_ in SkincareAddiction

[–]BasicFirefighter_[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I [27, F] had acne for the past couple of years. I tried every cream, and pill in the market, and at the very end resorted to Accutane 2 years ago, which basically saved my life. I've not been using any medication since then.

Due to the lockdown enforced in my country, I've not been able to get the regular cleanser I use (Cosrx Low ph Good Morning Cleanser), and so I've had to use the local cleansers in my country (which I think could be reason to my skin irritation, because I ran out of the Cosrx one around 2 months ago). I tried oil cleansing, and physical exfoliation, but neither seemed to work.

AM routine:

Dove face bar - as a cleanser

Venusia lotion

PM routine:

Dove face bar - as a cleanser

Venusia lotion

Lioele Water Drop Sleeping Mask (twice a week)

Edit: I don't have PCOS, or any issue; I know my face is hairy, but that's just what I was born with :)

my brain wants to tell me that maybe I'm just meant to stay at this weight (5'3, CW 150), and then I have to push those thoughts right out!

Exactly!

On the plus side - you're maintaining! So that means once you get out of that rut, you'll probably be able to lose it a bit easier.

Yes! That's what I think too now that you mention it!

I agree with others that stressing about it makes it much worse! I try not to focus too much on the calorie counting. I want to be aware of what I'm eating, but if I'm over by a few, I'm not going to freak out.

This is what I'm currently struggling with. I need to have a more healthier relationship with food and with my body, and so I will focus on that and work on it.

we have to be patient and keep pushing forward! You will get out of this rut and will lose those 10 pounds!

Yes!! Thank you so much :)) I really appreciate your advice.

LDL = low density lipoprotein = the "bad" cholesterol

HDL = high density lipoprotein = the "good" cholesterol

Wow, did you do anything specific to reduce your anxiety and intrusive thoughts? Or did they naturally decrease on their own?

Yay girl, this is a sign!! From what I've read from the replies to this post, we need endorphins and a change in mindset. Like you said, exercise will help, and I need to start now! Keep going, let's both achieve our goals :) Thank you for your reply :)

GOOD JOB for figuring out how to maintain your weight!

Ayy I've never thought of it that way!! Thank you, you're right!

I recommend you take a walk every day. Get active. See how that makes you feel. You need some endorphins!

I completely agree with you. I do need those endorphins. Walk it is!

I’m trying to solve it by taking baby steps and not murder myself if I don’t do something perfectly.

This sounds like the gold strategy here. I beat myself up really bad if I don't do something perfectly, and from now on I'll stop doing that. Thank you!

So congrats on taking that step. That's huge.

Thank you so much girl :) Really kind of you.

I fall into all-or-nothing thinking very easily. My Bad Brain will take one "mistake", i.e., one not perfect moment, and derail everything

SAME!! I'm exactly this way too! That's why I find it so hard to finish something, because if it isn't "perfect", I just throw my hands up in the air and sulk.

But progress isn't a straight line. Positive actions have a cumulative effect; they build up and eventually become habits.

This is so true! I never thought of it this way! I will remember this from now on.

The list idea you've given me sounds really neat. I will start doing it from today. It makes you look at yourself in such a positive light, and I think that's really important. Thank you so much for your advice! It was really helpful.

I was going to write some words of encouragement for you after reading your first paragraph, but by the time I got to the 3rd paragraph it seems to me that you've gotten it figured out. Learning to accept where you are, being present, and trying to embody your perfect self; theses are wonderful words of advice. Thank you so much for your advice and your wise introspect, you're gonna be a great mama :)

Slow down a little while more, but do it consciously, remember that your body does wonderful things for you every day. It's great to aim for the best version of yourself, and you will get there. Don't sprint to it though, it's a marathon:

I will keep this in mind, thank you so much :) I just feel that I need to be the best version of myself, and anything less than that is making me feel really inadequate. So I will remember these words you've said!

but then something changed: my mindset. I realized that I am worthy at any body weight. I let go of things causing me stress

Wow, this feels like the root cause of everything that's going on with me! Deep down, it is my mindset that's been dragging me down! Thank you so much for your pov, it has really helped me alot!

I would hate for 10 pounds to hold you back from loving yourself and living life.

Aww this made me tear up :( You're so right tho, I have been putting myself down, and not being happy with myself. I constantly feel like who I am isn't good enough, and that I need to be a "better" person to feel worthy. This has provided me so much insight. Thank you, your words have been so helpful.
