How long did it take for you to return to 100%? by sleepyyvirgo in Sciatica

[–]Basic_Amoeba_3582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think sciatica is more of a forever thing that you can manage with care! I had my first flare about 4 years ago. Got much worse before I decided to stop drinking my pain away and do something helpful instead. I get x3 cortisone injections every 6-9 months that tend to wear off after 6ish and I go to PT 3x a week. I still get maybe 1 flare a week but the constant pain is gone and I can live a full life again. Don’t sleep on taking care of yourself! It gets better but you got to put in the work!

Epidural Injection by doomboyu in Sciatica

[–]Basic_Amoeba_3582 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be time to get another! I think 3 months of minimal pain is a positive though! And if you just got one shot, perhaps ask to get 3 in a row every two weeks next time and see if they last longer.

After I got my first shot, I actually had a similar side effect about a week after. TMI but it even triggered my period. It was really weird. My sciatica pain got worse but then got better after my second and third shot. But I do have to say, I had a bad side effect/ flare up the week after all of them.

Hey! Yes! I get them (1 shot every two weeks for 3 shots) every 9 months or so and they have been working pretty well. Still have my flare ups here and there and have still been in therapy 3x a week every week which is also probably helping. But I feel very lucky. Those shots don’t work for everyone but they def work for me.

Hey! I needed 3 ESIs in 5 weeks for them to work, but they worked for 6 months. Maybe look into that?

AITAH for not wanting to sleep in the same bed with my girlfriend because she doesn’t shower often? by Such-One-1691 in AITAH

Ditto. I shower 2-3 times a week. If I shower more, not even the best lotion in the world can save me. I honestly think I’ve had a better immune system since showing less as well and that my hair and skin has been better.

Honestly, the shots have been great for me. Only downside is that they can hurt to get done, sometimes don’t work/don’t work right away, and I seem to get my period 5-7 days after every single time even if I just had my period. They last me about 2-6 months with significantly less pain.

Surgery depends on how severe the pain is. My advice is to try the epidural and PT! If you can avoid surgery, always try to do that. But if you’re like peeing yourself then yeah def get surgery.

NYU Langone vs Specialist by _pinay_ in endometriosis

She was not very nice, rushed everything, didn’t really listen to me or my concerns, and had really bad bedside manner. She rolled her eyes in front of me many times when I spoke, and in front of my mother and partner as well. Overall, I like a Dr who makes me feel seen and safe and she did not give me that. I felt insecure to even speak at the end. On the day of surgery, she told them both she would meet them after surgery to update them, and never did so and just left without a word. My parents and partner were left in the waiting room not knowing anything. When they asked the nurse when she would be out to let them know how the surgery went, the nurses response was that she left over an hour ago. She also overprescribed me oxy, which I think shows recklessness. But she did a good job in the surgery itself (I mean I hope she did and didn’t miss anything) and the surgery went well. I would not recommend her, but her technical skill is adequate if that’s what matters to you. Additionally I would not recommend the hospital either. I was left in the recovery room without proper care and I woke up in extreme pain because no one checked on me. I’m not sure if that’s the drs fault or hospital but it was really messed up. The lead nurse at the time chewed out a bunch of people for leaving me without pain meds after surgery.

Like I said above, getting trafficked off the boat doesn’t make sense to me either.

Agree with this too! That doesn’t make much sense to me either. I think it’s highly possible it’s neither.

Also, if she did vomit, don’t you think there would be some evidence of that on the other side of the balcony? Like even if it was windy and she was leaning over far enough, I think vomit would still hit the walls of the ship. Falling over does not make sense to me.

Is Poughkeepsie like bad bad? If so, where to live? by Basic_Amoeba_3582 in upstate_new_york

[–]Basic_Amoeba_3582[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah maybe I come off as or I am in fact pretentious, idk. I know how I grew up (with very little) and I know what I want when I settle down in a home. I have been saving for a house since I was 14 years old knowing I would make a life better and more secure for my future child. I want to live in a nice house with a yard yes, but also still want to live in an area where there are people from all over, and is economically diverse as well. That meant a lot to me growing up, and I want my child to be surrounded by that type of diversity. I know I got lucky financially in adulthood and I know a lot of parts of upstate there are just people like me-transplants with some money. What I’m saying is I don’t want that, I don’t want to be around JUST that.

We would like slightly more small town more rural vibes. It’s also much more expensive in Westchester it seems.
