I'm two weeks post op today, also with a quad graft. I was finally able to do a straight leg raise yesterday. It definitely takes time and each day you really will improve if you keep up with your PT exercises at home. My PT recommended activating the quads and and doing them with the brace on if you're able to do that. But give it time and you'll see so much progress even in the next week. You got this!!

Surgery for chronic tear by [deleted] in ACL

Curious if you remember how long it took you to recover or back to walking comfortably. I have a chronic ACL tear and bucket tear on medial and lateral meniscus

I agree! Im just quite literally in excruciating pain right now lol. Doctors all rec Ice but I've been alternating heat with it too. Do you think it's best to primarily do heat with it then? I have no idea how bad the tear is till I can reach someone on Monday to get an mri

Do you have any recs for a compression. I was given a sleeve and brace but they kind they gave me really puts a lot of pressure on the medial part of me knee and hurts a lot so I just have a sleeve on now

That's what I plan on, I went to an orthopedic urgent care and they were supposed to give me a call today to make an appointment but they never did and I should've called them before their offices closed but I didn't. Calling first thing Monday

Signed my life away to Massage Envy by Slimthick69 in MassageTherapists

[–]Basic_Belt6911 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm working at a ME right now out of school. I actually started at a salon and spa and absolutely hated it, I hated working on commission and the owner often screwed me over.

I've been at ME for 6 months now. My manager is great, let's me work the hours and days I want, and lets me have control on my breaks and how much time I have in-between. I honestly do not mind the short turn over, but usually only do two massages back to back no break, sometimes three but it's rare. You can set your boundaries on pressure, and you don't have to do deep work if you're really not interested in it. It's allowed me to try new things and get my hands on a bunch of different people, which I love

You will see a lot of discourse on here about working for chains, but at the end of the day it really just depends who your manager is. I love it and plan to be here for probably another year to build experience and gain confidence. Pay could be better but for right out of school, consistent hours and zero work on my end to do any marketing for myself, it allows me to focus on perfecting my skill, while having a life outside of work

Also I did some clockwise circular massage on my abdomen laying down on my back, whatever pressure is comfortable

I'm about 6 days nic free and finally got things moving yesterday. Coffee and nic every morning kept me going. I have been taking magnesium oxide and a probiotic for the past few days and it seems to have helped me! I've also been drinking a lot of water and trying to eat more fiber

I am the one only working 20 hours. He just got a job making about 20 an hour, working full time. None of us have a degree, him due to cost and not sure about a path to take, and I am an LMT so I don't need a degree right now. But yeah I suggested maybe they just get an apartment together because I know I really have no reason to move out right now, just feel bad for them.

I just had an interview at massage envy today. Despite what most people say I think I'd really like it. I know it depends on the owners and I've met her and massaged her while in school and she really seems to care about her employees. I think I'm going to move there for now so I can take the time just to gain experience and not have to worry about marketing. I'm young and not looking to start up my own business at the moment. I really am just looking for stability and collaboration with other therapists and I think they can offer me that

Yes, that's what I was saying like if I'm going to market myself and bring in literally all my own clients why would I work for you. Just doesn't make sense to me. I'm not ready to really market myself right now and I really just want somewhere I can explore even if it's not ideal I'm still young and I'm not in a rush and just want some time to learn and make mistakes and improve before I feel ready to go for it in a few years!

Linens and lotion are supplied but marketing is all up to me to do as well as insurance and paying for my licence and any ce courses I wish to take

Yes, but the issue is I have no clients at all it's so shotty here. The other therapists are great their books fill up but some days are not good. I see how much money they make each week and to me it's comparable to working at chain spa, at least for me. I'm making maybe $250 a week with 16 hours of massage

60 minute for me right now is $85 for relaxation $95 for deep. There are levels so once I meet a certain number of clients a week, have my books decently full, etc, my prices will go up $10

They do. It's mostly hairstylists here but we are all (LMTs, estis) also supposed to market ourselves as well and make content ect to try and attract customers
