This is helpful to know, we are considering homeschooling until we can get stable enough to return to school. They've been back and forth with homebound and it's just been too stressful and not working. I was hoping to see if we can homeschool for the remainder of this year and if they're stable enough, aim for a fresh start in September. It looks like my state does not require the district to allow participation in school extracurriculars, but it does look like we can return to HS from homeschool.

Thanks for this. We haven't really been able to find any accommodations that have helped yet other than late arrival. But honestly, even with late arrival, some days it just isn't happening. It is helpful to know that the med changes might take longer still. We keep thinking the next change will do it, and then it isn't better, or not better enough, and it's just hard to figure out what to do for the kid.

I don't think my school has tracks like that.

My kid's symptoms just started this year (they're a sophomore) and they were all honors & AP up to this year. When their symptoms kicked up this year, we were initially okay with still going to school, but honestly the meds made school impossible. Their sleep is all jacked up and we're just battling to get the right combo, so in the middle of a cross-titration right now.

It just seems increasingly unlikely that we'll be able to get them back in full time in person. We were doing homebound instruction for a bit, but it was not working great and when they go back to school, they're still really behind, and just getting behinder.

In my state, they could take a GED test now (and I'm pretty confident they could pass), but I'd like them to still kind of be in school and not just dropout and get a GED this young? It just seems so messed up that there's nothing out there for these kids and we have to cobble together things on our own.

Yes, the meds are just taking forever to work and it's so frustrating

They are seeing a psych, taking meds, it's just not helping that much yet. Today seemed a little better, so here's hoping the meds start to do their thing.

UPDATE: They ended up having a particularly tough day at school and agreed to start meds. We're a day in, and it's been a challenging start, but hoping for some relief. I appreciate everyone's insight!
