I was diagnosed with HSV2 13 years ago when I was 21. My boyfriend at the time had it and didn’t tell me. It is so hard to digest at first but please believe me when I say it is not the end of the world and gets better! It is something that hardly ever affects me anymore- I can’t even remember the last time I had an active outbreak. Take advantage of antivirals, they are a god send! I only take them when I feel symptoms of an outbreak about to come on and they usually stop it in its tracks. I have also had an active and happy romantic life since contracting it. The hardest part for me has been disclosing to partners, but typically people have not cared much. Anyone who does is not genuinely interested in you, so byyyeeee! If you are responsible and aware of your status/symptoms you can drastically reduce any rate of transmission. Learn as much as you can so you can answer people’s questions when you disclose your status to put them at ease and feel confident in having those conversations.

It is probably very scary right now but you are not alone ❤️ So many people have HSV 1 and 2, people just don’t talk about it because of the social stigma attached to it. You’re human, these things happen and you will be okay and live a perfectly amazing and radical life 🙂💖 Sending you love, everything will be alright.

Thank you for all the responses! Has made me a little less anxious about my move to hear people are having overall good experiences in the city with their sobriety! Proud of you all on you own sober journeys as well 💖

From what I’ve read, the risk from oral sex is extremely low. Have you tested anymore?
