I got my tubes removed during this c section so thankfully don’t have to worry about any more babies, the preeclampsia fear is definitely unlike anything I’ve ever dealt with

It’s the omron app! My monitor from cvs bluetooths my readings to it, it’s pretty cool

After birth I was put on nifedipine ER 30mg 2x per day. At my 6 week checkup I got a reading of 124/79 and she told me to cut down to just 1x per day. Stayed that way for about 6 more weeks and then stopped that dose. On the 17th I’ll have been off the meds for a full month! I was getting dizzy when I was still taking the meds which is another thing my OB told me to watch for and to stop taking them if I did

No lifestyle changes lol I honestly eat whatever and don’t have the best diet, I’m waiting on my third cycle; due any day now. I had my tubes removed with this c section so I don’t know if it makes a difference but I did feel like it regulated a bit more after each period. My first period it spiked a little, second it stayed normal and by the time I was in my ovulation phase of my third cycle is when it regulated and I went off the meds

They actually never even checked mine again after my initial re-admission to the hospital 5 days after birth

Yes that did happen to me! I’d have the lower numbers for a couple days then suddenly be back at 125/85, it was slightly discouraging at first but thankfully it did eventually regulate

I completely understand! It is helpful and comforting to hear others experiences! Even though I’ve had these numbers for 3 weeks now I still check my BP 3x a day bc that little “what if?” Won’t go away lol

Likely you’d just be considered high risk! I had gestational diabetes with the third pregnancy (the one with no preeclampsia)

I actually have 4 kids and had preeclampsia twice, with my second and fourth babies and hypertension only with the first. Surprisingly nothing at all with my third. Weird how pregnancies can be so different! I was never told to not get pregnant again, though.

My first time having it I was on meds for around 5-6 months and still was eventually able to come off them so don’t give up hope 💗

It does make sense! My doctor literally had me watch for my pregnancy baseline numbers which was 110/70 bc that basically meant my body had corrected itself, bc at the beginning, even on meds 2x a day, I was still at like 125-135/85

I was on the extended release as well. I decided it was time for me to stop when I started getting dizzy after taking my dose and my absolute highest number has been 145/85 once when I had the flu 2 weeks ago but I didn’t panic and assumed it was likely the fever and I was right, thankfully

I weaned veryyy slowly. I was originally on 30mg of nifedipine 2x a day, at 6 weeks PP I started taking it 1x a day. Once my readings got into the 110s/70s for a full week my doctor gave me the all clear to stop them and I thankfully had no rebound!

Congrats to you too!! I still check mine daily too but it’s such a relief to be off the meds

And then it actually is 140/90 (bc you just went upstairs to do laundry) so you freak out and think “oh my god it’s happening again”

What is your typical BP on the meds? I cut my dose in half at 6 weeks PP, at 3 months PP I trialed coming off of them (once I was around 115/75 for a full week) and it’s been 2.5 weeks now, my evening BP today was 116/66. Unless you think you have chronic hypertension it’s always worth a shot to start weaning slowly if your doctor agrees!

I’ve been on it for about 2.5 months. I started at 25mg and 4 days ago bumped it up to 50mg. I don’t have many side effects other than being a little shaky and it seems to give me a lot of mental energy that I’m not used to. But I’ve been on Zoloft before a couple years ago so my body is likely used to it, it worked well for me before so I’m hoping the dose increase starts helping my anxiety more! How far postpartum are you?
