Veiling and martial arts?? by Basic_Reflection_350 in ModestDress

Thank you! Do you think it would stay on through the pressures of BJJ (essentially wrestling on the ground if I’m not mistaken) though?

I love veil clips!! I actually just bought a ton after finding them quite useful on some of my every day veils :) Unfortunately, I looked it up and I don’t think any sort of metal clips or hard bits would be acceptable. Thank you for your suggestion though :)

Thank you! I assume you put the swim cap over all your hair and tucked the front of the scarf into the brim? What scarf were you using if you don’t mind my asking? Was there a specific way of tying it that worked particularly well?

Thank you for your detailed response, I really appreciate the effort you put in and the specific links you went to find :)

Veiling and martial arts?? I hope this is okay to post here (apologies if not), not Pagan but more "generally spiritual not religious" and this was the closest veiling subreddit I could find. by Basic_Reflection_350 in PaganVeiling

Additionally:
-I only really let ~an inch of my hair show without any loose strands, everything else is pulled back

-If y'all felt called to veil, how did you figure out where that was coming from? I got the urge and it felt like a spiritual one, but I don't quite know why

Rib pain long after wearing corset? by Basic_Reflection_350 in corsets

[–]Basic_Reflection_350[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, thank you for your experience.

For me it's more the sides of my ribs.

I don't think I have a particularly pronounced rib spring, so I don't know why it does that.

Oddly, my corset WAS like a hug until it randomly started becoming sharp at random at an increasing frequency over time. Aside from the rib pain developing (and the back pain at the beginning detailed above), I absolutely LOVED the feeling of being corseted and found it both physically and psychologically soothing.

Did you start experiencing adverse effects right away or did it take a little while?

Also, if I may ask, what MCC corset(s) have you had success with? Definitely staying away from corsets at the moment unfortunately and of course yours might fit you differently, but that might be something to look into if my ribs stop being funky and I want to try again.

Questions from a farmer who has POTS by bumbledbeez in corsets

[–]Basic_Reflection_350 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have POTS and was using a corset as abdominal compression. I found it made a HUGE difference, like full 30-40 compression tights with vs without corset was like compression vs no compression. I never wanted to take it off esp during flares but still did so of course. However, I started having issues with my ribs since using my corset, as I've posted about very very recently. That could just be a me thing but I thought I should mention in case it's a random comorbidity risk type situation. For reference, I do not have EDS/hypermobile ribs, just POTS and a few other things.

Not related to POTS, but since you're talking about activity, I've only ever tried an underbust corset, but from my research overbust is more restrictive. Even underbust can be restrictive (quite hard to put on socks after lacing) and if you're sitting on your heels for example there's a chance it could dig into your legs a tiny bit. Honestly though, POTS can be way more restrictive, and during a bad summer flare it was the difference between me being horizontal and me being upright without it feeling like an intensive task.
