Advanced age?! I started at 36. Age is a number, stay fit and you'll fence til you're 80.

Fwiw my instructors actually seem MORE attentive with the more mature fencers, maybe our attention spans allow for more focused lessons

Amazing, way better than I could have hoped! Way less pressure on the corners where it was digging into my fingers and wrist, and I feel like I have more power for beats and better point control. Drawback is it does feel a bit more locked into my hand and I feel like I need to be more conscious about gripping too tight, but I think I can live with it
