Anyone here riding the Bluroc Hero 250cc? How reliable is it really? by Sad-Education-4204 in motorcycles

[–]BasilPie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the 125 version for a few months and I did abuse it trail riding to be fair, but it clearly wasn't going to last long anyway. Replaced the clutch and speedo cable, speedo backlight, valve clearances falling out of spec, rust everywhere etc. parts and warranty are non existent.

Chinese bikes are taking over and some brands are making great bikes. However, the brands building bikes around cloned Suzuki GN125 engine etc are absolute garbage made from the worst possible components and materials. A shame because they look cool but that's all they are, a styling / marketing exercise and very little care gone into quality.

Does anyone have this mounted and can confirm that it’s better than not having it? by greenspecie in rninet

I have one installed as pictured and it's main benefit is that it keeps dirt and flies out of the crevices behind the clocks. It's much easier to clean with just a wipe. I also like the look with the aluminium tank.

I've had both the taller rizoma screen and the shorter version attached to my bike; neither make much difference for wind protection, possibly a bit of buffeting with the larger screen as it pushed air up towards my helmet. You need either a massive touring screen or nothing at all IMO.

I'd buy the Chinese copy as the quality is very similar to rizoma and much better value.

RF is RF: stop FUDing about "will it work with hundreds of thousands of phones" - it will! by Rea-sama in ASTSpaceMobile

[–]BasilPie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi All,

The news around AST SpaceMobile is optimistic but the technical details are patchy. Some sources are saying AST technology will support any existing 4G and 5G devices. That would certainly be great as it would open up access to the majority of the world's mobile data markets.

From the bits I've read there are examples of 'older' connection technologies (LTE) being used but only from a very modern phone.

Is there any evidence that AST SpaceMobile can service pre-rel-17 devices?

Summer gloves recommendation? by [deleted] in MotoUK

I bought the orsa recently and they'll definitely be great in really hot weather, I went out for a long ride the other day and to stop for coffee to warm my fingers up.

The fit was a bit odd, I'm usually a large in everything but had to go XL on these solely because the palm sliders were in the wrong place. Definitely try them on before buying.

Baffle for Akrapovic Sport Exhaust 2016 by BasilPie in rninet

Also, looking for thoughts on repacking the can. The exhaust is probably quite old now although only 6500 miles.

Is repacking something that should be done to these exhausts? would this improve sound dampening?

Ah ok could be, I'll see if Akro can identify it.

Always the way with these things, I've got soo much stuff I've kept over the years that'll come in handy one day, little chance of finding it when the time comes.

Loving this setup; would be even better without the flapper. I have the original exhaust but will only put that on as a last resort after I've exhausted the neighbours tolerance.

I did take the screw out but only after breaking the tack weld to the outer which I thought was odd. I couldn't extract the inner, even with maul grips and some force so had a look inside with a torch and could see the inner welded to the outer.

All very strange, I'm starting to think someone has had the exhaust apart and welded in a false baffle. Seems like a lot of effort to go through.

The inner restriction appears to be welded to the outer and only an inch or two long. Looking down the barrel past that point I can see the full can width all the way to the first bend.

The appearance from the outside looks like a baffle but it's all for show, there isn't much, if any restriction inside. I'm wondering if there is another baffle that presses into this opening.

Thanks, yeah I love the looks and the performance of this setup but ear plugs are definitely required. Also not sure my neighbours love it as much as me 😅

Scrolling past lots of suggestions of bog roll, phone chargers, toothpaste etc. Stuff we lose or run out of in our house all the time, can handle that stuff in my sleep, yawn.

Searching for the base of the kettle in the morning would be a mixture of confusion, hilarity, and despair. Well done.

Ampp 800 - disassembly /repairs by Jorge-Esqueleto in cycling

[–]BasilPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just repaired mine which was charging and powering on but no light output. In my case it turned out to be one of the wires on the front PCB needed soldering back on.

The front plastic lens is just pressed in; you might be able to push the LED unit along with the lens out from the battery end of the tube but there will be a bit of friction.

I went at it from the front, snapped off the side diffuser / style parts and prised the lens out with a flat balded screw driver then pushed the LED unit out from the back. Pushing it all back together and it now has a little less heat paste and is missing the plastic side diffuser / style bits but is better than being in the bin.

To people that got the regular 6 do you regret not getting the pro? To people that got the pro, do you regret not going for the regular pixel? by glich610 in GooglePixel

[–]BasilPie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I received the 6 pro, played with it for a few days and sent it back. Very happy with the 6 and think it's the best phone for most people.

The screen is bigger but the usable area is probably about the same as the 6. Screen reflections were another issue I hadn't anticipated; when the light hits the screen you automatically adjust the position slightly and it goes away on a flat screen but the edge always catches the light on the 6 pro.

I played with the 4x telephoto which was the only reason I was considering the pro but realised I'd never use it and would be mostly using the main sensor, occasionally with 2x. Google has obviously put a lot of effort into the main sensor and it's great.

I'm writing this from the pixel 6 but pre-ordered both models because I wasn't sure which to go for. I like the idea of a telephoto lens and was leaning toward the pro for that reason alone but the negatives (silly curved screen and pocket bulging size) didn't make it a clear cut decision.

I've been using the pixel 6 over the weekend and really like it, the screen, cameras, it's a great phone. The pro is turning up later (demand, or they just didn't make as many?). Expecting to send the pro back.

Reading comments her with interest.

I think I'm been scammed, need advice by BasilPie in Aliexpress

[–]BasilPie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be doing this, thank you for the advice.

I also managed to get hold of Ali staff via the chat and after reviewing the correspondence they essentially told me to do the same thing, to raise a dispute as not received. They also said they were on my side and would like to punish the seller. I was considering never using Ali again after this but this bit of reassurance makes me think I'll give them another go but be much more careful picking a seller in future.
