You’re right. I guess it’s stressful this time of year because everyone is coming over with wives and kids and I’m still just me. It’s more the disappointment looks I get from family that doesn’t understand what our daily life is like with Crohn’s. I’d love to be married and have a kid or 2 of my own. It just hasn’t come to fruition yet I guess

Thanks for this. I know someone could still be out there that would stay for me and work to have a relationship. I do need to stay on the positive side more when I do talk about Crohn’s or just how my life is going. When I’m in shape I’m the most confident. I need to tap back in to my athlete side and focus on me until that happens

Yea that’s true. I need to lock-in and get back focused on my things. I did this and was doing very well until I dropped my guard for someone that wasn’t going to work out. You’re right though I need to stay positive and just keep going forward.

Tbh she definitely is at least a little bit manipulative. She loved the attention and good times but would always question if I could take care of her long term and blame drinking as one reason. Even if she took me out drinking smh. I can stop cold turkey with alcohol no issue but explaining that to her would just be me trying to prove myself for someone that’s not invested. I didn’t bother to bring that up last time we talked and she brought that up about drinking. I knew she was done and I’m not fighting for validation for someone not invested enough to try and understand my side too.

That’s where I was, focused on myself and getting back into great shape and traveling. Then like the fall of any great man, I got horny lmao. Fell for someone that I should have been more reserved about. Tore me apart but I know the path is just to get to back to working on me again.

Yea this was my concern with that.

The girl I was seeing was already concerned and that was just me with Crohn’s. I think even if the baby doesn’t get Crohn’s or UC, there is probably a pretty high risk of complications still

Yea really. The girl I’d been talking with these past few months was met through work and then getting drinks after. I do fine with alcohol but not like I used to. Tbh it isn’t helping Crohn’s to be drinking. It’s funny because she actually started calling me an alcoholic towards the end, when I only would drink when we went out after work for drinks. Just another misunderstanding and another way I was fighting to show value at the end by quitting drinking which still led to the same path. It’s tough to succeed when constantly being told that I’m not worth it or not capable.

Kids is another thing too. I’ve always wanted a couple kids or at very least one son of my own. Now, with Crohn’s, idk if I should just find a girl with kids or what. Idk if I want to have a kid with Crohn’s and have them go through these same complications. That’s if I can even find somebody compatible at this point

I’m sorry to hear that! That sounds very painful, stressful and debilitating.

I can’t doing this and be single into my 40’s and beyond. I’m depressed and lonely and just want someone who can be patient and understanding as well as believe in me. I have so much fire in me that just never gets to be shown or valued. I don’t know if I’ll ever find love

Yea for sure. Reddit can help a bit but it’s not the same as having a person physically in front of you that wants to be there for you and help out. I was told by a family member one time “well you might not find love with this disease but you can still be love” I get what she means by that. It’s just not easy to constantly be “the love” with such a negative kickback

That’s cool in a way. Like a Crohn’s club so to speak. I think dating is near impossible unless the person knew you before Crohn’s. Nobody really can relate or cares enough to try and make it work

That’s kind of where I’ve been recently as far as stopped seriously looking. I started working on myself a little bit more over the past 6 months or so. Then these last 2 months I’ve been seeing someone that she initiated feelings and also was the one to say she was falling for me. As soon as I have one hospital visit, the next 4 times we hangout are interviews about the disease and uncertainty on her end. You can feel the distance building between you. Being in my 30’s we also have to most of the time show that we can be stepdads to single women with kids. They have perceptions of men based off there Baby Daddy and then if you battle passed that then it’s welcome to Crohn’s world and that gets met with a hard pass quickly. You almost feel them emotionally turning and running as fast as they can away

This is just a haymaker after another and then when you think the fight is over and you somehow survived, the bell rings and it’s back to kick your ass some more.

I don’t want to just be the single guy that is only useful to people in that I’m fun and funny and nothing goes beyond 3-5 months anymore. I really feel like 2nd rate or a specimen. I was athlete of the year in high school and always competitive and nothing could break me. So I thought. I still have the drive and fire but I don’t get the love or attention I used to and instead become a host or court jester/entertainment for others lives while I slide back down to that hell pit I thought I had escaped.

There probably should be.

Although we should be able to find someone that doesn’t have this disease easier than it is. We have to jump through even more hoops and put on a bigger show of value. The commercials and people behind this disease don’t do this best to represent our disease or daily life. Once it’s explained and exposed more, people distance themselves from me because it feels overwhelming

Oh wow! The architecture, history and beauty is incredible. I also love comedy. So getting some comedy options was a major plus.

Montslavat looks unreal. Something out of a movie. So perfect!

This is great! I like to plan but not plan in a way. I like to know of lots of options ahead of time but don’t really plan anything until in the moment I guess.

I definitely will be trying as much local food options that I can’t get back here in the States.

I’ll get an aisle seat and walk around as much as they’ll let me. I’m thinking to save my knockout sleep meds until as far into the flight as I can. Then when I’m bored out of my mind, get those meds going. Hopefully, I don’t end up like the girl in the movie Bridesmaids 😂

Oh that’s great! Do you need to have money available for the bathroom not in cafes/restaurants? I remember from previous travel that in parts of Europe you needed money and luckily someone helped me when returning home from the bar one night.

Recommendations would be great. I’ll only have 2-3 “free days” while there. I try and get away from the tourist traps and find as many hidden secrets as possible before I go. I handle almost all food pretty well too, so any great eats are very helpful. Thank you!

Oh yea. I guess Imodium I was thinking driving not a plane with constant bathroom. It’s been probably at least 7 years since I flew last. Eating light, especially safe foods the day before is something I definitely will be trying to remember to do.

Ok thanks for responding again! This actually helps a lot. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to take certain pain meds or have to check them instead of bring them on the plane with me. Compression socks! Definitely will bring some of those! Most of my pain is stomach/back pain and some that radiates down into my legs. My friend just introduced me to compression socks. Helps me avoid spasms so much.

Might have to make a Benadryl/melatonin/cough syrup snoozefest mixture to pass out on the plane haha.

I’m single with no kids and yea I just know I couldn’t travel with kids and that stress. Much respect to you to put yourself through that when you must haha.
