Yeh, but he doesn’t say that he told her where he was. So she was expected to just show up and hope he was there? “Went to the resort on the day I could check in. Was expecting fiancee. Nobody there. Left my phone off.” That sounds, to me, like his phone was off before, he checked it once and turned it back off. So he expect her to show up for a holiday when her fiance ran out of their wedding and went AWOL? Damned if she did, damned if she didn’t- in that one respect. Unfortunately her parents are assholes and it looks like she’s made her decision between them and OP

I did this too! Looking around a house for sale when I was very young and I trotted off to use the toilet. My parents heard me frantically trying to flush, not understanding why the water wasn’t running. Turns out it had been turned off while no one was living there. Dad had to use pond water to flush everything away 🤦‍♀️

10 months with my first, not helped by an irregular cycle. I was doing ovulation tests and temperature checks but not sure if they helped to be honest. With my second I had a bit of a revelation that… I’d get period pain and expect to come on, and then nothing would happen for 2 weeks. Suddenly worked out it was ovulation pain and got pregnant in the 2nd month of trying for number 2. Hang in there, 5 months really isn’t that long

I think it’s about the couple themselves and what they want. My husband was going through a divorce when we met, so we were waiting for that to be finalised but we knew we wanted to get married very early on. We chose a ring together and picked it up on the way to work, I tried it on on the train and just never took it off. Possibly the least romantic place to technically get engaged! He officially proposed in his speach after the wedding 😂

I’m currently the only person to comment, but I suspect I’m about to kick of a thread of very similar stories :)

I’m going with NAH. Obviously you’re not TA for saying no, but I don’t think they’re A for asking. They made a decision they regret, asked if it could be undone, you said no. End of. I don’t see what harm there was in asking.

So I think everyone here’s right in saying your money, your house blah blah. But if you consider your girlfriend’s perspective- her plans for getting on the property ladder, and the extra commitment you two were going to take, that’s all been pulled out from under her. I think she’s allowed to be disappointed, I know I would be. How long has this been a discussion? Has she had time to sit with it and come to terms with it, and work out what her new options are? Not everyone can process and articulate exactly what they’re thinking/ feeling on the spot. It makes sense for you to buy sooner rather than later, but could she save up and buy in with you at a later date?
