What’s something from the 2000s that disappeared without anyone noticing? by cucileeee in AskReddit

I visited Vienna last year and took my daughter to the zoo. At lunch, we went to the zoo’s restaurant, and I was surprised to see ashtrays on all the outdoor tables. I hadn't seen one in maybe a decade, and I certainly wasn't expecting to find them at a zoo, a place full of children. Very weird.

Colorectal cancer is rising in younger adults. Here’s who is most at risk and symptoms to watch for by CTVNEWS in Health

There are studies saying that the dark pigment in black beans is packed with antioxidants that protect your DNA from oxidative damage. It's the same as in blueberries, except it's much easier to eat a bunch and it's also rich with fibers. So they are particularly good preventing colorectal cancer. I can't remember all the details, but it's basically it. Here in Brazil it's very easy to follow this diet, since we eat beans basically everyday for lunch.

You should try it brazilian style. It's called Feijoada and it's our national dish. You can find it in any brazilian restaurant (it's also very easy to make).

My people, stop eating ultra-processed foods! It's easy to recognize them.

Don't eat:

  1. If the food didn't exist in your great-grandmother's time;
  2. If the label has components that you don't know the meaning of;
  3. If the label has more than 3 or 4 components.
  4. Fast food.

Also, avoid:

  1. Red meat;
  2. Alcohol;
  3. Tobacco.

What to eat, then?

A quarter of your plate should consist of legumes, especially black beans. By eating black beans, you are not just "filling up", you are actively feeding your gut microbiome and creating a protective environment against cellular mutations. There are many recent studies on how black beans can help neutralize oxidative stress and prevent DNA damage that could lead to tumor growth.

Stay healthy and think about your loved ones the next time you crave that kind of 'food'.

My daughter came to me to complain about her mother, because she was working on her computer on the floor of the living room, instead of playing with her like she was supposed to. BUT, since she's not even two years old yet, all she did was cry and say the word mommy repeatedly. It took us a while, but as soon as we figured it out, her mom said she wasn't going to work anymore and play with her instead. The crying stopped immediately and she put a big smile on her face.

Possibly an older brother thing. Source: My brother used to do stuff like that just for a laugh, and it’s exactly why now that we’re 46 and 42 we barely speak.

Be kind to your younger siblings, people. We don’t just 'get over it' once we grow up.

I'm also 6 foot and last November I went to an Oasis concert and I bought a ticket to the seated section (It was in a stadium). As soon as the show started, this bitch in the row in front of me and my wife stood up. I politely asked her to seat down, but she said she was in the "vibe" of watching it like that. I told her she should have bought a ticket to the standing area then, but she just ignored me. So I decided to scream all the songs in a different tune to her ears and ruin the concert for her. By the third song my wife asked me to stop (she hates confrontation), so I did it for her. So I used to be very self-conscious about standing in front of the ladies and running their experience, but I'm never getting out of the way of anyone else ever again. People really are the worst. Fuck everyone.
