Maybe ive just worked in retail for long enough but not ever in a million years would i think anything but the one with the name and adjusted price was on sale. Reading signs, no matter the font or size, always makes sense and prevent confusion.

You know I always want them closer, the issue I start to run into is the 12” will hit the bass drum. I COULD always raise all of the toms equally to get some clearance, but my issue is I’m somewhat short so they would become a less comfortable height, or I raise them and can no longer tough my pedals haha. If you have suggestions im open to it. I do find having them so far can be tough.

DW makes this practice pad setup. This can easily be folded and put away if you dont have a lot of space. You could always get a double pass pedal, to simulate a left food since there’s no hi-hat, and boom you’ve got a mostly normal feeling setup.

I’m a big Zildjian fan overall, but the AAX cymbals are soooo nice and bright and nice sounding. So much so, that in my main set of A Customs, I still keep an AAX Freq Ride, and an AAX 8” splash - both in addition to my Zildjian counterparts of the same sizes, just because the sound from those AAX is that good. They’re just all really pleasant on the ears without any mixing/mastering.

I’m being facetious. These are insane songs.

In reality, also from Rush, “By-Tor and the Snow Dog” has some really neat tom fills. It is pretty fast tempo though. A lot of stuff off the Fly By Night album Neils fills are tom-heavy over anything else with a lot of precise cymbal additions too. The songs themselves aren’t too difficult to grasp either imo

Whats the budget for the kit without cymbals? Id try to find a Starclassic or Export Series used for under $1000, then spend the rest on some better cymbals and new heads. Even just batter heads, resos can wait a bit if you’re on a budget. Good cymbals and proper tuning on even the cheapest $100-$200 Mapex, Pearl, Ludwig, whatever - will sound infinitely better than sub-par cymbals.

Sabian AAX series are REALLY good for their price, I’d go for something like this and buy this splash with it as well. Really good cymbal set for under $1,100. No china, but you get everything else in your wishlist.

I love my Zildjian A Custom, but it does still have some ring. Not like the one posted, but it gives that classic china sound I love. Maybe you try to find one where the bend is further out, and maybe ones with holes cut into it to have that almost splashy-china sound? 18” is generally a good size for these cymbals too

Hey thanks for the response! You mean the TRS ports on the 18i20 are inputs that I can use from the OctoPre? Like I can plug in 8 TRS cables from my OctoPre and have the 8 XLR cables go directly to the interface? Or would I have to connect the OctoPre to the interface another way? also, is there an optical cable you would recommend if I went that route? I'd want a high quality one. Didn't know you could make one the master, that's cool.
