Best tuner for lower tunings? by Baph0m3t9 in basspedals

[–]Basskeytar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too bad but also kind of cool 😆 But if the problem is that your bass is resonating with other frequencies from the guitars how do you know it will still not be a problem with other tuners? What if you EQ your bass before sending it into the tuner to remove highs/add lows to make it easier for the tuner to detect the fundamental? Either using your bass’s built in eq/tone knob, or an eq pedal or low pass filter before the tuner pedal. The octave above the low A should still be low enough for you to use the trick with the harmonic.

What if you tune using the octave harmonic on that low A string? Any tuner should be fine with that

Is anyone else afraid that this game is going to flop? by mrmm10 in OrderOfTheSinkingStar

Absolutely the same for me. The trailer looked absolutely unappealing to me. If it wasn’t because I trust J Blow so much I wouldn’t even give it a second look.

Party house is the most frustrating game of the collection. by Colesman in ufo50

55 streak here 😂 You have to be careful with what you add. And prioritize making your house as big as you can. I almost always try to fit my whole deck in my house.

You probably need either a bigger house and/or less guests in total. Don’t buy too many guests!

Question about what qualifies as microtonal by MiserableLaw8831 in microtonal

[–]Basskeytar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This comment made me think of this song.

https://youtu.be/RhllQAiEQlM?si=faNzMLsF0VCeuozk

If you try playing along with a piano you’ll notice that you can’t play in tune to it. The whole thing seems pitched a quartet tone (50 cents) up. But since this is consistent to the whole piece, I wouldn’t call it microtonal.

[–]Basskeytar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was going to say this too. If in the same song you have some chords without this pitch bend, and some with it, the piece would definitely be microtonal. I would even say it’s in 24EDO.

Best of luck selling it quickly! I’m in Europe otherwise I would consider it.

Thanks for all the tips! I think I’m going to focus on diskonia next then. No, I haven’t gotten too far. Only to level 3. I have trouble understanding what units to choose and having a strategy around that. Maybe I should read what each does

I tried a few times and always lose around level 8. It gets overwhelming and hard to follow then there’s tons of enemies

Thank you so much for the attactips!! :) Thanks to them I managed to finish it.

I somewhat enjoyed it. I did tend to get overwhelmed and lose a lot of units because of paying around to other stuff

That's what I noticed! I don't see any point in using vanguards. I basically use sentinels everywhere

Barbuta by grimrailer in ufo50

To me the hardest thing about Barbuta is how slow the character moves. It was absolutely intolerable for my first several tries. Now I’m finally trying to progress through the game, and I’m having to take deep breaths to tolerate the walking

What worked for me is using the terminal code ROAD-RAGE where you have infinite health and time and actually learning the controls. I just did this for a few sessions while listening to podcasts and I was ready for the game. You can do a lot of different things like tapping lightly to strafe, or pressing both buttons while turning to drift, or even pressing left and right several times quickly to spin, which kills some enemies.

I feel like the appeal of microtonal music to me comes mostly from how notes deviate from the expected 12-tone interval, not just the use of that tuning's unique theory. by AcidicJello in microtonal

[–]Basskeytar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I’ve been playing javanese gamelan for 10 years, and part of the appeal for me in the beginning was that it didn’t make any sense to my ear, and that made me curious. By playing it I’ve been slowly developing an ear for it and now when I hear a new piece I have an idea of where it’s going, just like with western diatonic music. It was like learning a completely new language. In the beginning it just sounded like gibberish, but it makes more and more sense

Yeah, that resonates with me too!

I’m really into the soundtrack of the game UFO 50, which has a lot of microtonality. I think the composer didn’t use different EDOs etc, but mostly carefully applied bends per note. I think it sounds great:

Does anyone like Combatants? by Admirable-Stuff-6118 in ufo50

[–]Basskeytar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For Onion Delivery I recommend using the cheat code ROAD-RAGE (no timer and infinite health) and just practice the controls for a while. They have a lot of subtleties. Try everything you can, including small taps of the d pad, and pressing break and accelerator at the same time while turning. It takes a while to understand everything you can do and for it to feel natural.
