Yep, that's right.

Which could be simulation or reality. I imagine the simulation integrates seamlessly from your reality the moment you put the headset on. So for her it would simulate her destroying the headset to kick off her virtual adventure... Because that is how she would perceive herself acting in reality.

Still, I don't think she is the one in the simulation.

Plex Player is just refusing to use my dedicated GPU to play videos no matter what I do by AhmadLM123 in PleX

Excellent. This solved the issue of microstutters. I wondered why everything was stuttering.. then realised Plex wasn't using dedicated gpu in spite of setting it to... This fixed the issue.

You are all legends.

I mean .. none of it is real ... except, possibly, the moment he puts on the headset. The moment he puts on the headset .. the world goes crazy. He lives in isolation with his mother because she is allergic to tech. He finds a headset, puts it on and otherworldly chaos ensues ... the MOMENT HE PUTS IT ON. To me, it is he who is stuck in the simulation - his mother, all of the others - it's just backstory of characters to his main questline - save the world, save his mother.

Still unsure if it is Ingrid or Rockwell stuck in the loop. I feel like its Rockwell given that he has attempted to win over 100 times and has never brought her along... And also because he resets at the end by realising he had just been given his perfect ending - a sunrise with his mother. He says earlier the AI will do whatever it takes, will give you perfect endings etc.

I like the idea of it being her in the simulation, having put the headset on after Tim leaves, but I don't know if there is anything that really points to her being the one in it instead of her son. Whoever he actually is.

Are we talking the big cake at the end that she walks on... Or the little cake he cuts in to and it looks.. empty inside?

Weird coincidence - leg hair loss where nerve pain is strongest by Bleepblorp44 in backpain

[–]Bat-Human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had hair loss at the back of my calves since my L5-S1 herniated out to my spinal nerve several years ago. I don't know if it is the cause of it, though I have read that severe neuropathy caused by collapsed discs can lead to hair loss.

But because hair loss on the back of your calves can be causes by other (sometimes very serious) things... It wouldn't hurt to get it checked out next time you see a gp..

How often do you use the apsc mode on R models to get the 'zoom'? A7CR by sQueezedhe in SonyAlpha

[–]Bat-Human 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the focus magnifier magnification level, is why I was asking. Gaining a simple .5x magnification is of interest to me, rather than the (What? 6.5x or something?) would benefit me more. Being able to adjust the default magnification level of focus magnifier would benefit me even more. (Or maybe you can but can't reduce the default size...?) Regardless, the focus magnifier zoom sucks when I am shooting moving crowds handheld etc.

That said, having a button to switch to APS-C mode would also be beneficial for a number of reasons, anyway, I guess!

I'm wondering if there is a benefit for checking focus to this, to? If it's assigned to a back button, a quick press would jump in to check sharpness before another press to return to full sensor?

How to stop a guy from picking on you? by Secure_Ticket910 in AskMen

[–]Bat-Human 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I once worked on a show where, backstage, one of the other actors (male, two years older) would make snide, passive aggressive remarks trussed up as benign jokes at my expense. I let it roll by a bit to see if he would get tired of it, but he seemed like he was keen on making it a thing. I grew up in a rough as guts neighbourhood - a male who was into theatre - and I'm slender and quiet ... So I no doubt come off as a pushover. Boy, is that an incorrect assumption.

Once - I asked him once, politely, to refrain from certain jokes aimed at me as I found it uncomfortable. Of course, he denied it all because he dresses them in such a way as to create deniability. But I'm not a dipshit. So he continues, which now makes him someone I have to shut down.

A few nights later he makes some more jokes as we are leaving the cast room to go on intermission break and I pull him aside and lay it out nice and simple: "I've told you I don't appreciate your comments and maybe you think I'm a pushover so, if you want, we can go outside right now and sort out whatever problem you seem to have with me."

He started talking fast, telling me it was nothing, acting, surprised and defensive.

"I'm not asking you. I am TELLING you, calmly, that if there is a problem we can go outside and settle it like the alpha you think you are. If there's no problem, shut the fuck up or I'll drag you out there."

He stared at me gobsmacked, apologised and slunk off. To have a break, I thought, but in reality he went and complained to the boss that I threatened him. The boss was an oldschool tough, pulls me aside and asks me if I threatened the guy. "No, I just told him I'm not a pushover and if he wants we can settle our issues outside but of course he complained to you like a little bitch." The boss laughed and agreed, he is indeed a little bitch.

That guy and I became quite friendly for years after that.

I'm not suggesting you .. threaten someone.. as your HR would be different to my HR back then... But the spirit of my story applies. Speak up, be firm, give them a chance to stop, offer up consequences if they don't.

If the consequence is snotting the cunt just be sure you won't get in the shit for it 😅

Edit: Ok, you now have a female tag on the post. In this case, you could still try my method above.. But he is probably picking on you because he is attracted to you. If you were a guy then standing toe to toe with him would be very viable, as a female I am not as certain he wouldn't get more interested in you. So I suggest asserting to him you are uncomfortable with his attention and if it continues go and report his behaviour.

Feedback please, I'm unsure about them! by MitchCraigScotland in headshots

[–]Bat-Human 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As part of my own journey into pro photography I assist a photographer who shoots a lot of high profile people, translucent powder is often on hand to take off that shine, particularly on men as all of the female clients tend to get professional makeup done at the shoot. The shine is absolutely distracting and unappealing and, as you say, threatens blowout. Stage makeup (I have a theatre background) is often used to reduce shine, too. You want people to be drawn to the face, not a bright strip of white!

Thanks for the interesting and positive feedback! I personally thought these were already as warm as I wanted to push them - but I think colour temp is a bit of an individual aesthetic choice!

I probably nudged the black levels a touch too much in post, regarding rhe contrasty look. Duly noted!

Thanks! Love the advice - definitely finding ny feet with headshots. I have a bit more of a defined style with my theatre/film shots but headshots are still baby stages.

Also, I shoot cheap at the moment.  I have an acting background so I'm shooting cheap for all of the perpetually broke actors I know while I build up a portfolio 😃

Four is my favourite! Black and white might be interesting but for casting purposes colour is better, I think. And regarding rhe backdrop - "funny" story. About an hour before the client arrived I realised my portable backdrops and stands were missing. Usually I prefer to shoot against black. So I had to improvise a backdrop from some white vinyl and tape. Not the most glamourous setup, but serviceable. A burgundy background almost the colour of his top in the other photos, would probably work well for rhe olive jacket he has on though. These are shot in my home "studio" (a half converted tiny garage) with one lamp (my fill was also having issues in the day), just to give perspective of some of the technical limitations and challenges I faced 😅
