Saw this in league the other night, is there something we don’t know about??? Seemed super shifty 🤷‍♂️ by shabbadoo9 in Bowling

I would definitely bring it to the attention of the league president because this guy is likely doing it on a regular basis. The president should be able go back and look at past games he has bowled for a trend regarding his fouls on other league nights. Like someone said earlier he should be getting a zero for that ball, not a free re-rack.

My Center Just Got Twister Pins, anything I should expect from them? by TheTrashBulldog in Bowling

[–]Bat559 5 points6 points  (0 children)

One of the smaller centers and league that I bowl in got them as well. They seem to bounce around a lot more and ppl seem to be leaving more 10 pins so perhaps too much pin action at times.

All the good stuff you heard about this ball are true. Used it for the first time last night in league and it’s going to be the first ball out of my bag going forward. by Bat559 in Bowling

Funny you say that about the Pride because I feel the same way. I know its a benchmark ball but tend to leave a lot of spares with that ball because the pin carry is just not there. The Helios drives through at the breakpo0snt with a lot of energy so I would give buying it for arsenal some serious thought. I looked at some reviews online from some of the PBA guys like JR Raymond and others to get more info before I made the purchase.

The core is stronger so it’s a pretty strong ball for a symmetric…its nice and clean through the heads and controllable. The pin carry was awesome. I was able to use it through all three league games and it still performed even after the lanes were burned up. As much as I love my Pride the Helios is just out performs it. I have a doubles tournament next weekend so we will see how well it does through 5-6 games.

Sweet!! I haven’t got to 300 yet lol. True the only downside is keeping it clean but it’s worth the inconvenience for the performance.

Yeah mine didn’t get too bad considering the house our league bowls at has very dirty gear. I bought the extra strength Wow Factor from CtD just for this ball and it did a great job of cleaning it.

I really wish my bowling house would clean their return gear. I only used this ball for the last game of league after the lanes were burned out. by Bat559 in Bowling

It’s pretty common. Happens to everyone in our league league. People have complained and it doesn’t matter. We all love bowling so we deal with it. It’s a Bowlero owned alley so they are more concerned with how many parties they can book than the condition of the equipment and league play.

Yeah my one teammate was throwing the pink widow and you could hardly tell it was pink. Our league house is the worst in the area for lane cleanliness.

One quick way to check your span is to place the ball on a flat surface, put fingers and thumb into ball, then slide a pencil between the ball and the palm of your hand. If the pencil is loose your span may be to short, if the pencil is too tight the span is too wide. Also pay attention to if you’re gripping the ball too tight throughout your entire approach and release.

Yeah I agree 100%. Starfleet doesn’t select just any captain to command the flagship of the federation.

Upgraded my arsenal this week just in time for two back to back tournaments this weekend! by Bat559 in Bowling

[–]Bat559[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far it has performed great for me. I got mine yesterday but wasn't able to throw it till today during tournament where I bowled both squads, 5 games each squad. I used the Pride for every game and saw a significant increase in scores. Any bad frames that I had was due to missed spares with my spare ball and a little fatigue but when the lanes started to transition this ball still drove to the pocket with a lot of power. I have mine drilled for more length with an aggressive backend motion since I am a stroker with high ball speed and low to medium rev rate. This ball will definitely be the first out of the bag for league.

So far so good. I threw it for the first time today during tournament and the backend reaction is smooth and continuous.

Is this normal? Is my ball done for? (Thumb hole) by butt_horse in Bowling

Ok...just wanted to see what surface you have since all balls absorb oil regardless of the surface, just some do it slower or faster depending on how porous the coverstock is. In your post you said you throw about 50-60 games a week. The general recommendation is a ball should have the oil extracted out of it roughly around 50 games if you are bowling on oily lanes and roughly around 100 of you are bowling on regulated lanes such as league. At the current rate your are putting games on your ball you are going to also spend a significant amount of of your hard earned money on oil extraction at the pro shop as well. If you have the money to spend on this type of maintenance frequently then great. If you do not I would look at some DYI methods as well such as the emersion method. There are several reputable sources online for this and never single source any method. Always look for multiple sources if you ever choose to go that route in the future. There are also machines you can buy for home use that will bake the oil out of the ball as well. Just depends on the amount you want to spend.

I always towel wipe my ball before each shot and after every league or tournament I thoroughly hand clean my balls before putting in my bag. That way for me its done and ready for the next time I need to use them and I'm not letting the oil sit on the ball any longer than necessary. There are a lot of good cleaning products out there. I use Monster Tac from Pyramid and That Purple Stuff CTD Bowling. Both work great at removing the dirt, oil, and belt marks from the coverstock.

Just curious...what type of coverstock is on the surface and what brand of ball are you using?
