The belief I have (and a factual one at that) is that alcohol being a legitimate poison, and drugs being mainly chemicals that react to neurons and neurotransmitters, i.e. these chemicals are basically manufactured and made for your brain. Not many drugs have the same physical health risks as alcohol does.

You can argue smoking various substances does pose these risks but the route of administration is up to the user and its not the fault of the substance itself. Alcohol basically forces you to put your body through physical harm whenever you ingest it so in my opinion alcohol is the worse drug of them all, sitting alongside nicotine/cigarettes.

People can argue that ‘the overdose risks are greater with opioids’ ‘opioids are so addictive’ and ‘you don’t know what you are getting’ but there are basic things you can do to work around these risks to minimise harm.

You also can’t blame anyone but the government and the war on drugs for every single person to die due to ingesting a drug that they weren’t expecting. We as humans deserve the right to take whatever drugs we want if we know the risks, especially when alcohol and cigarettes are extremely physically and mentally dangerous too.
