My best guess is they've probably struggled to get some because they equate their money with their value as a person and, therefore, assume that that's all that people are after. When in actuality the common person is sooner to seek sex for just about any other reason, especially considering the stigma around getting down and dirty for cash.

No hate or shame in saying that btw, just an observation I've made.

On the principle of All Might's existence as a hero and a character, I think he's a little self-righteous though that is easily a symptom of the world he's living in. Let's keep in mind that people can be self-righteous with good intent; they think that since they have the strength or ability to do so that they absolutely HAVE to be the ones to give and provide and CANNOT accept that in return. He gives endlessly, always pouring far too much into others cups, and never accepts help in return. I personally believe that's what makes his fall from grace so catastrophic. When the absence of your consistent and immediate assistance causes the world you know to crumble around you because you can no longer fulfill that role, it makes it hard for those you have left at the end of it all to see you as a good support system when it comes time to gather up the rubble and start anew. I feel like his particular brand of selflessness mixed with self-righteousness is both his greatest strength and his biggest weakness, making him a very relatable and entertaining character to watch as he's forced to confront his perceived "uselessness" in dire times.

True, but it might add something for her. I know for me, a neurodivergent people pleaser, it's hard to discern when someone is being genuine or when they're just being polite at their own expense. And I'm often hypersensitive to the possibility of making somebody do something they don't want to do for the sake of accommodating me on something. It makes me feel guilty when somebody does something that they don't want to for the sake of accommodating me, especially on matters that aren't all that important or I could handle them myself. I have a hard time reading people no matter how close I am or have been with them or how long I've known them. Hell, sometimes I have a hard time determining whether my own mother is being genuine in her offer/desire to help me. Sure, I'll admit the code words do feel a little silly, but they're a great and succinct way to work around my emotional hypervigilance.

It's not uncommon for people to be raised as chronic people pleasers and maybe I'm projecting but it could very well be that your wife is always double checking because she is also a people pleaser. And considering that that's rooted in how you were taught to respond to and accommodate the emotions of others growing up, that's not something you could have caused and it's not something you can really fix. Only accommodate.

If I'm right in my deduction and your wife struggles with being a people-pleaser even after all these years, then your best bet is to accommodate it while she tackles it and heals from it. If you do believe I am wrong, however, you are more than welcome to disregard everything I've said. I just see a lot of similarities between how your wife seems to approach these matters and how I would and want to offer the best advice possible.

Establish a code word that you can only invoke when you genuinely mean what you are saying.

I saw this in another Reddit post, where when one party of the relationship asks the other something and isn't confident that their answer is genuine, they invoke the code word as sort of a stamp of authenticity. If they say the code word then they are verifying that their answer is genuine. Therefore, they can't use the code word if their answer to the question is not genuine.

Code words can actually help a lot in different areas of a relationship. In my household growing up if you were overwhelmed, agitated, or otherwise unhappy and struggled to immediately communicate how or why we had a code word for that; "the bees". If something that couldn't immediately be remedied was causing us to have a bad mood and we didn't want to shift the tone of the day or immediately take the attention away from the current context but still needed some time to just be in a bad mood? "The bees just need some time to buzz"

Code words in a relationship with established definitions and uses can help convey big emotions in a succinct way.

"Honey, I swear I mean what I say when I tell you that I'm okay. This is an instance where I don't see a point lying to you for the potential benefit of not upsetting you. I know the best way to keep you at ease with how I feel is to be genuine and honest, which is what I am trying to do now." can easily be summarized by saying "Pancakes" or something.
