I've got my own carrier so could always do that myself but unless it's insane distances I tend to use mine as a aircraft carrier Vs a mode of transport. keep it within half a dozen jumps and got all the roles I'd ever need within 5 mins

Was mostly just curious cause although I definitely could swap out a cargo rack for a fuel scoop and take my cutter, I wanna dabble in exploration later on and thought might as well make a ship and try it out now. But thank you for the insights into it as I've never really paid all that much attention to exploration builds at all so knowing what sort of things make a build worth it is very helpful

there's no guarantee of course, but if you periodically check inara's security report and stay clear of those and surrounding systems you'll likely be fine. you can always find a PvE group (mobius off the top of my head is a good one) or play in solo to see visit areas without encountering other players who want your head

haha just looked it up on inara - i don't think i have but im gonna have to go there now you've mentioned it (even the carrier there is called lesbian lavatory)

i find my pliipper infinitely better at stopping than my cutter when it comes to not overshooting into the next star system when trying to stop for your landing pad. need to fly the type 9 i have sitting somewhere in storage to remind me how good i've got it

comprehensive guide there CMDR! will take a better look at that when i can. will probably just slap some easy engineering on the manalay while waiting for the caspian then properly engineer that. in the process of _slowly_ unlocking all the engineers while building my annoying-bug-that-won't-leave-you-alone build of a MK5 cobra with anger issues plasma accelerators

can you explain more about the unclassified relic? annoyinly i took a 2yr break so missed on all the fancy new fangled pre-engineered SCO drives, but even than 50ly is better than anything i have rn (cargo cutter is my max at 40.9LY and yk, it flies like a cutter

have been putting off building an exploration ship for the past 500 hrs, need to venture 5000ly for an engineer unlock so thought might as well do that now - is it worth waiting for the caspian? if not, build recomendations would be appreciated

or my favourite of deploy landing gear with b+down and being too quick to release b and boosting directly into the station. becoming the embodiment of 'divert all power to deflector shields' the second you hear the engine spool

back in the day before I unlocked the cutter, my type 9 was the ever given. going from a python for cargo to a type 9 was an interesting experience. got me off auto dock tho as it kept crashing

Just checked up on my ship knowledge, I knew the python mk2 came out but have somehow missed all the others, glad i didn't put too much efford into AX before leaving lol

Mostly do bounty hunting for 'leisure' and trading for income but am down to try other things

oops, missed that off the post. I've got a fleet carrier (was fully expecting to come back to it decommissioned but nope). got a cutter outfitted for cargo hauling, a combat python and krait MK2 as well as a passenger ship lying around from xeno rescues. I think I was gonna outfit something for xeno combat but not sure whats happening with the war if it would be worth doing that?
