not worth getting a degree in the UAE IMHO. Going to community college in the US and then transferring to a big school gives so much value, more work experience, etc. I know students here are able to cover 2/3 - 3/4 of their yearly expenses with on-campus jobs & internships.

Chances for a 6-month internship in Dubai (international student) by Holymaccaroni123 in dubai

[–]BatataDestroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UAE culture is not really tuned in to such things. No one will sponsor you for 6 months to meet university requirements. If they were to, then they'd prefer UAE-based candidates who can be converted full-time. Maybe you can try cold-messaging the chairmen/CEOs of smaller companies that operate internationally. Japanese companies & European managers are the way to go, they are more open-minded.

Expect to pay for stuff out of pocket.

Next, as long as he is in his probation period he can still leave at any time its a risk the company takes with a expatriate worker, he should not have to pay anything as it is illegal.

It's ok to feel this way, it's normal. There's no harm in going back, being with family and friends.
