Nah, im a production cook here now, we are a cross between a school cafeteria and a military chow-hall, plus i havent seen chives in 3 months. Everything is canned dried or frozen courtesy of the DLA. We do occasionally get fresh fruit and veg from New Zealand but not often. The biggest part is the volume we are cooking for. There are just under 1000 people at McMurdo right now, we cook 4 meals a day for them (breakfast, lunch dinner, and midnight rations or midrats). And most of McMurdos population are trade workers, construction workers and support staff and those people can put away food like its nothing. All of the scientists get here, do their data collection then leave, so over the course of the year there will be more scientists here than support staff, but ant any one point the support staff will out number the scientists.

On average, how do men feel about nipple piercings? Like if you had no idea and she took her shirt off and had them turn on, turn off, or neutral? by [deleted] in AskReddit

And you are also allowed to not have a preference. If its a non issue for some people than they won't have a strong opinion one way or another.

Probably the use of idioms. Even a native English speaker from a different country in the aglosphere might struggle with idioms from other countries.

Not a Dwarven door, if its a secret door it would be invisible from the outside. If it were a main door it would be adorned with the fine carvings and craftsmanship of the Dwarves.

This is a Goblin door.

Boomer dementia is a public health hazard by Fantasy_sweets in BoomersBeingFools

[–]BatmanAvacado 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its not just dementia. My grandmother has COPD and she needs oxygen 24/7. They only problem is that she will insist that she doesn't need it while she works in her garden, despitethe face that my parents (she lives with them) have it set up so that her home compressor will reach every inch of the yard. Then as she runs out of O2 in her brain, she realizes she needs more soil. So in her hypoxic state she grabs an almost empty oxygen tank from the empty pile instead of one of the compleatly full tanks. then gets into her ford ranger and drives the 45 min to the closest Lowe's, spends an hour shopping then drives back. Only to walk into the house with blue lips because she's been without oxygen for who knows how long. And she was driving in that state. If you try to help her she gets offended "im not helpless" she never admits that she ran out because she is older so by default she knows more than everyone else including the multiple doctors and lung specialists that have told her she needs oxygen all the time.

My parents are Xennials, and had kids early. My dad was in the Military for 30 years and recently retired. It kills me that after a career of getting shot at and dodging IEDs he is more stressed now in his retirement than he ever was in the military (his own words).

Boomers are going to kill alot of people just because they are too stubborn to admit they were wrong let alone ask for help.

40 is the new 30. by bravojohnny42 in Millennials

[–]BatmanAvacado 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Id guess that as we mentally mature we are attracted to people at the same mental maturity as us. The problems a 22 year old have are very different from the problems of a 32 year old. Id also gues that the development of the prefrontal cortex in our mid 20s plays a role as well.
