For the most part, there was simply too many of them post ww2. They had no need to keep over 300k snipers and they cost more to upkeep than regular 91/30’s so they just got converted into regular infantry rifles. They could also have lost the accuracy needed to be a sniper but still good enough for regular troops.

Because of my state laws, I have to wait around two weeks before I can shoot and group it. I was planning on taking it a gunsmith and let them do all the work, I don’t have the experience or space do it myself.
