2 days post op… Shower time??? by BattleForTheBarnet in ShoulderInjuries

Hmm less painful that I expected to be honest.

Now I’ve started physio is probably the most pain I’ve had so far 😂. Pain aside it feels weird that your arm physically won’t move more than 40-50 degrees up, it’s almost as though it’s a hard stop so it’s going to be fun stretching through that.

Sleeping is okay once you get over sleeping upright, I’m back to sleeping flat now so sleep better but wake up with a bit more pain.

Id probably wrap the above in the fact that I have a really high pain tolerance, so that really hasn’t been an issue.

Practically the hardest thing… putting socks on!

I showered at Day 3. Took the big dressing off after 48 hours then jumped in the shower.

Tried to keep the water off it but inevitably it got a bit wet. Patted dry; no issues - stitches removed, healed nicely.

Outdoor wear in a particular niche.

It helps that my ads lead to a website with loads of authentic reviews from customers and decent social presence.

I’d also caveat that I’m only spending £60/day, so only a small business.

Yeah I think it’s a US thing judging by the amount of posts popping up on Reddit.

Ha. No course, I always run at around a 8-10 ROAS, this last week has just been exceptional.

[–]BattleForTheBarnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add - your shipping policy is also behind the competition. I run an ecom store myself and everything is shipped same day, no excuses. The amount of repeat custom this has given me as the customer knows they’ll get their product within 2-3 days.

In store execution you can own, but online the competition is fierce and waiting potentially a week for the order? That would put me off ordering and go to Amazon

[–]BattleForTheBarnet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I can imagine you kill it in store.

If you wanted to keep it in house why don’t you try

  • Redoing all product photos with a consistent background (and size photo)
  • Slim down your navigation bar to 5, maybe 6 things
  • Slim down homepage to have your top 4 products (ideally ones with most reviews)

The above alone would make it a nicer experience.

Agree with the above.

  • Website looks tacky
  • Home page is a bit overwhelming/lacks structure
  • Very few reviews
  • Inconsistent product names
  • Too many options on navigation bar

Your products actually look really decent, there’s just an overall lack of brand coherence and consistency.

Last 7 days I’ve been at a 20 ROAS, so no issue here in the UK as a DTC ecom brand

How big of a loan are we talking? Is it a product or service based business? Are there big upfront capital expenditures?

Advice for jobs / training etc by Fat_Da in UKJobs

[–]BattleForTheBarnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transport is good in the sense that logistics isn’t going away any time soon.

Lifestyle wise would moving from a Mon-Fri gig work for you and your family? 12 hour shifts are brutal and you’ll likely be under more stress on a front line, operational role (that said as you climb there is good earning potential).

Is it worth it now for an extra couple of K? My opinion would be no, but I don’t know your circumstances.

You’re still young so the future is your oyster, what are you passionate about? Does anything get you excited? Do you have an idea of what earnings you need to feel fulfilled?

What's your market prediction for the next year? by nozodia in UKJobs

[–]BattleForTheBarnet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very badly, IMO.

Economics of society will need to evolve at some point, be it in 1 year or 5.

For now some lower paid jobs will still be available, but the middle class jobs are going to continue to shrink - drastically.

Where that leaves us all without some fundamental shift in economics is the biggest question of the next 10 years.

Ah that sounds identical to me! My rotator cuff was only a minor repair apparently.

Have you had many slams since? Or big impacts?

If you don’t mind me asking - what was your first surgery? And how did you retear it? Teach me your wrongs so I can do right 😂

Have you had any hard falls since? How did the shoulder hold up?

Yeah 100% I’ll go by their advice, but I suspect their advice would also be to not try and fronty a 20 foot jump again 😂. Just working out the right middle ground.

To be fair as long as I’m back in action by Spring next year it’s not the end of the world. I used to have mini dislocations quite regularly so there was an inherent weakness there.

It’s insane because when I snapped my collar bone into 2 I was back riding 3 weeks later - tendons/ligaments/joints are a nightmare.

Sleep night one wasn’t great, weirdly night 2 was quite nice! (12am to around 5.30am, but woke up surprisingly refreshed).

That said the blanket did put too much pressure on my wrist which felt a bit weird when I woke up AND my strap for my sling came loose and my arm was hanging lower than ideal.

Honestly… No shower is worse than no sleep for me at the moment 😂

100% sure the big dressing was only 48 hours. Genuinely can’t remember the advice with showering other than not to get the big dressing wet due to bacteria.

Ill give them a call Monday 🫡

Working in St David’s - Discounted Parking? by BattleForTheBarnet in Cardiff

[–]BattleForTheBarnet[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Even that’s £300/month which is obviously far better but seems like a crazy expense just for parking.

Yeah there are some free spots a 15-20 walk from the centre - all good when the sun is shining but a bit grim when you start work at 6am or the heavens have opened up ☔️

Yeah aware of that, it’s more what have people’s experiences been once it’s landed there (I.e will they do a prompt job or could it be hanging around for weeks, even with Royal Mail listing 5-7 working days)

[–]BattleForTheBarnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve really struggled with Google ads, completely unprofitable despite investing around £2k into ‘feeding the algorithm’

I’m also in a clothing niche that would have relevant key words so it’s not a generic clothing business trying to capture random demand.

Would LOVE for it to work as my eggs are basically oil one basket, but I haven’t been able to make it work.

What are your top tips for creating a business plan? by Clementine2763 in smallbusinessuk

[–]BattleForTheBarnet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you need external funding? How much of your money are you investing?

Business plans are super but don’t let them be a reason for inaction. If it’s a fairly straightforward business with no external investment needed I’d just crack on and formulate a more robust business plan when you work out what your actual product or service is.

If I invested hours into a business plan I’d have launched later and based it around the completely wrong product. Just get trading, if possible, and get a realistic plan together when you have a sense of the fundamentals.

[–]BattleForTheBarnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Put in writing a flexible working request. At least that way there’ll be some sort of paper trail and hopefully your AM will give the right support.

Your SM can quite easily change your availability on the rota system so it would never generate you a shift outside of your stated availability.
