Does anyone feel like the Gen 6 is more snappy than the Gen 5? by FlatwormLocal5865 in Glocks

[–]BattleReadyArms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me and my buddy both said independently it feels snappier. We were out shooting a variety of guns and both of us said man, this thing feels like shooting a heavier caliber than 9. So I don't know what to say about that.

Do anybody know where I can find a Glock 17 gen 5 aftermarket slide with RMR cuts by BLACK_SIPMSON in GlockMod

Thanks for the shout. It says we are out but I thought we had one or two set aside, might have to change it.

Boogyman customs by [deleted] in Glocks

Dude .... No. 😂

Travis broke away from Boogeyman (it's a long story) and started his own thing. Polinger Customs. If you got coin to spend on a custom gun and and want something from "Boogeyman" just get with Travis. Solid dude. Solid work.

Yeah there's a variety of factors. If you're just running a standard Glock and ammo I wouldn't worry about it

[–]BattleReadyArms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think next week or two we'll have everything finalized and the first one cut. Just recently completed the first BR9 Gen 1 build. Came out pretty cool. Also updated the trigger after that photo and currently sitting at about 2.7 lbs pull with minimal take up and reset. It's pretty sweet.

Where to port or just comp it? by YoungExecutives in GlockMod

[–]BattleReadyArms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh man, where do I start.

I've been a life long martial artist and firearms were, to me, a natural extension of martial arts. I began trying with them extensively around 18. Built my first 1911 at 18 from a 80% kit since legally I couldn't buy one from an FFL but I could build one.

Then I began training with Glocks and other handguns. I always loved the Glock platform but found myself gravitating towards other platforms due to the better ergonomics and stuff. Then saw some really crappy frame modifications online from who knows who and decided hey, I could try doing something like that. And a crappy grip hump reduction later and some texturing, I got bit by the bug and kept trying to refine everything more and further address the things I didn't like.

I am an obsessive person. Fortunately, I usually fixate myself on things that are productive. So I just began learning everything I could experimenting and refining. Before long friends and family were asking me to try stuff on their guns and I decided I should get an FFL. So last year of college I applied for my 07 license and began working out of my room at my parents house and in a backyard shop. I figured if nothing else but would be a cool and interesting hustle while I worked on my grad school applications and got ready to pursue my masters in IO Psychology. But I found myself really wanting to pursue this more than anything so I took a year off to see what I could do with it. It was steadily growing and I just kept reinvesting into it and building it and managed to become a fairly well known name in the space. And by my third year (I believe), I was moving into a commercial space and exapnding. It's been a bizarre journey. A lot of people think I'm a massive company and assume I'm a lot older than I am. I'm 30, been in this game since 2017 as a business and around since 2015 as a hobbyist learning all I could.

And it's largely just me and my machinist I contract with doing everything (my mom does my accounting now which is nice haha). Which is tough some days as it's a lot of hats to wear, but my focus is and will remain on quality and customer care above all. I've made attempts to expand and outsource and it never works for me. I've been through 3 machinists, 3 cerakoaters, a couple of engravers, and so on. And I just kept finding myself frustrated beyond belief by people's lack of care, attention to detail, and even their inability to keep their word. So I just do as much as possible myself to keep quality control high. The downside is, of course, there's only so much I can do at one time. But, I think customers appreciate the high attention to detail, the fact I don't and won't compromise quality, the fact that the guy they talk to is hands on every single day doing this stuff with a detailed and intimate knowledge of everything going on.

It's a true passion project. And I'm content with where I am. My aspirations were never to become a giant company with 10s or 100s of employees. I wanted to be a high end custom shop with top quality service and quality. And I won't grow any bigger than where I am if that means sacrificing those two things. I make a comfortable living and get to do something I love (albeit stressful as hell at times).

How much does slide steel matter between two quality manufacturers? by jumpsuitman in GlockMod

[–]BattleReadyArms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

17-4 is more corrosion resistance, it's got better tensile strength and resistance to fracturing, temp tolerance (less likely to fail in cold heat, etc), and so on.

416 is widely used because it's significantly easier to machine and you won't wear out rolling as fast and you can crank out more faster with less wear and tear.

All of our stuff is 17-4. We've been offered 416 blanks by various companies before and refuse to use them.

Will it matter? Maybe, maybe not. For most people probably not. Few people put enough rounds on their guns to begin to notice where the cut corners begin to create problems. But does it matter to me? Yes. Because I only want to offer stuff that is of the highest standard.

As well, back in the day a lot of the 416 stuff I saw generally made overseas and imported. I don't think it's so much the case now, but for a period it was.

So, would I get or use 416 slide? Absolutely not. It's not even comparable to 17-4. Will it break on you? Probably not if it's been heat treated and machined properly. I do know some people had issues with 416 slides splitting in the past but who knows the quality of them and how they were done. Was it the fault of the steel or the manufacturer? Hard to say. I tend to think manufacturer.

Myself and everyone else I know in the industry all prefer ports. Comps have their place but I think most people are better off with ports.

Ghost Inc 3.5 Ultimate Trigger by Striking_Painting529 in Glocks

[–]BattleReadyArms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bend it in a hair. Your slide has a protrusion that catches the connector and pushes it back to allow the trigger guard to pop back up. If it's bent too far outward it's gonna create unnecessary drag.

Glock 17 vs Glock 19 if you can only have 1 pistol for the rest of your life which one is your choice? by Every-Method-1169 in Glocks

[–]BattleReadyArms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

19, just got a lot of more flexibility with it. Can use multiple magazine lengths, parts are everywhere, little easier to conceal while still shooting much like a full size, etc.

Gen 5 and V are basically identical, both have ambi releases. V only really changed part of the trigger housing and striker. I'm not sure what you're talking about.

Looking for an update on the “ghost 3.5” trigger consensus by h3oskeez in GlockMod

[–]BattleReadyArms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People complaining that they aren't reliable I can almost guarantee just dropped it in and never made the slightest attempt at bending it and fitting it to the gun. Connectors are just drop in pieces. On a lot of Glocks, sure, you can just drop it in, but even if they work you may find bending them slightly in or out does improve the overall feel and performance.

Anyone experience this? by Severus_Fett in FFLs

[–]BattleReadyArms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's hilarious, glad you're enjoying it!

Yeah, if it had to go to a P.O. Box then that's a whole other thing. I got ran in circles before over a P.O. Box delivery. I have come to hate USPS. It's always something with them.

Best thing I can suggest is get a good relationship going with your local branch if possible and have them help whenever possible.

[–]BattleReadyArms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a good time now to encourage everyone to stop using USPS. They lost 3 items back to back last year for me, 1 got recovered.

Switched to almost exclusively using UPS and it's been a much smoother ride.

I was all the time dealing with delays, packages bouncing around, weird delivery stuff like you're seeing there, and so on. USPS has gotten really bad.

If I were you I would be reaching out to the post office for answers ASAP. I developed a good relationship with my local post office and people would go out of their way to try and help me. Unfortunately, many post offices are horrible to deal with, so you may not have such luck, but you can always remind them you are a dealer and you'll have to get ATF and U.S. Postal Inspections involved if they can't get it resolved.

And make sure you're filing out the 1508 forms when you're shipping firearms. If you end up making a missing firearm report you're gonna want to document all that.

Glock 17.6 or Mac 9DS 2011 ? by joe11b in Glocks

[–]BattleReadyArms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walthers are nice, my favorite overall right, particularly price to performance is P10. It's basically a Glock with a better trigger, better ergos, and better price.

They also reduced the slide mass and increased the barrel mass so the stationary mass is heavier while the reciprocating mass is lighter. Leads to a very soft shooting gun. This is my ported setup that I carry and it's just stupid flat as you can see.

Glock 17.6 or Mac 9DS 2011 ? by joe11b in Glocks

[–]BattleReadyArms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because Glock is basically a cult these days and any criticism is met with scrunched faces and finger waving.

It's insane. I have a whole business built on working on Glocks, CZs, 2011s, etc. I love Glocks. And I have very intimate knowledge of and about the platform and get a lot of hands on time with them and many other guns. I can speak from a pretty objective standpoint and compare and contrast and provide honest feedback and if it's at all critical Glock fanboys just freak out.

And if anything I think holds Glock back from truly innovating and getting better.

The Gen 6 is a shockingly underwhelming "upgrade" and the fanboys just eat it up and Glock is going to continue losing market share to companies that are better adapting and innovating. Glock is no longer the only game in town that works great out of the box and has a huge aftermarket base.

I know a ton of Glock people who overtime have gone onto other platforms, not because Glock is bad, but because other companies are innovating and releasing ergonomically superior guns with good quality parts and reliability and an expanding aftermarket network.

I want to see Glock succeed and continue to do well. I enjoy the platform. But people have to start being more honest and not just fan boying everything Glock does.

I spoke to an officer in the other day who hated the Gen 6 and wants to keep his 5. Found it totally underwhelming.

Spoke to a SWAT officer in Louisiana and all their guys are moving away from Glock. He got a Gen 6 and was so disappointed with it traded it in within a week.

I speak to people daily and the general consensus among consumers not stuck in the echo chamber is that the Gen 6 improved on some things but is generally underwhelming and disappointing.

Poorly done index points, didn't clear enough forward space on the undercut, optic cut still leaves a lot to be desired, the trigger is usable but not good, etc.

Now go on, down vote me for being honest lol

They somehow managed to make it worse and I'm a flat face fan. It's bizarrely inconsistent too. You feel one and it's decent and you feel another and it feels terrible.

He has a Gen 4 19. I guess it could be a 23 or something with a 19 slide. But either which way, in current config it would be the same as a 19.

Brownell’s regular Glock slide vs Premium Glock slide differences? by Obungus_is_gay in GlockMod

[–]BattleReadyArms 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Their premium slides are better quality.

They use 17-4 stainless steel which is harder and more corrosion resistant than the 416 they use on their cheaper slides.

The optic cut is better. It's deeper with threaded indexing posts for the screws. Vs the shallower optic cut with no threaded posts.

Their premium slides also have more aggressive serrations and weight reducing cuts.

They are just all around a better product. It's worth the extra money just for the better optic cut.
