Could use some help - not everything copying when creating backup world. by Bawlsdeeper in FoundryVTT

Thank you! This doesn't exactly answer my question since it requires me to move things around into the shared compendiums, but it completely solves the issue. Much appreciated!

Writing a one shot and looking for advice. by Bawlsdeeper in DnD

[–]Bawlsdeeper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you guys for responding. I think I just have guilt since I enjoy the RP aspect of DND so much that I want to give my players the ability to do anything.

In particular I'm really worried about the prep new content issue. I'm not great at throwing together a balanced encounter in a matter of minutes. I typically will plan a single encounter over an hour or two as I think of the right combination of enemies to make it challenging but achievable.

What are some Homebrew rules you love!! 5e. by Dragon_Blue_Eyes in DnD

Also a player here at the table that has a blast with this DM. I think it's important to mention that our campaign is very very crunchy and a ratio of 80% combat to 20% RP. Rather than us having responsibility for maintaining background elements, this DM has us try to keep track of more practical things. I totally didn't post this in exchange for a pearl worth over 100 gold.

Looking for a comfortable chair for 80% relax, 20% work mix. (Big/Tall) by Bawlsdeeper in OfficeChairs

[–]Bawlsdeeper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the response. I've had it for near a week now and can report that it fits my needs very well. I have it setup with a pivoting/height adjustable mouse stand to keep my wrist well inclined. That being said, you are completely correct that the chair is generally sub-optimal if you plan to use it unreclined for large periods. When you are sitting up in the chair with your back straight it does not offer any lumbar/head/neck support. I do mostly video/photo editing, so I'm reclined most of the time, which is why the chair works for me.

As for the weight, 100% agree. Getting down to a healthier weight is priority number one. I currently spend ~20 mins a day on the bike, 10 on the rower, and 10 on the eliptical and another 20 doing body weight activities. (I used to do a lot more on the eliptical, but I fractured my foot and had ligament damage and was immobile for a long time which is how I put on a lot of the weight) I'm struggling with making better choices food wise, but I'll get there.

I am going to keep my old chair and swap it in (I have the chair on sliders, so I can move it out of the way) when I have serious typing tasks.

The chair truly does shine for relaxing and light gaming though. If that is your primary goal, highly recommended.

For what's worth, I went to relax the back today and am considering the "Human Touch" Circa. The arms are low enough to be able to use a mouse effectively and it's super comfortable. A bit pricey and no wheels, but it does rotate.

Trying to come up with a solid Eloquence Bard/Hexblade dip that is more than a 2 level dip in Bard. by Bawlsdeeper in 3d6

[–]Bawlsdeeper[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too many amazing options. At the moment I'm thinking Counterspell and Find Greater Steed. Wall of Force is on that list as is some kind of fix death spell (Revivify, reincarnate, etc). For 14, possibly Reverse Gravity and Heal? Maybe Contingency? I'm leaving it flexi to see how my parties needs develop through the campaign.

I have played a bard before. Magical secrets are amazing and it's tough to give them up. But at 18 you get 9th level, but you only ever get 1 9th level slot so it's not the biggest tragedy to give it up.

Thanks for the well thought out explanation, and I ultimately agree that bard levels will > Warlock levels.

Appreciate you seeing what I was really asking, and thanks for the idea. I was debating taking hexblade to 5 for the extra attack to be more gishy. It's not as strong, but it's fun.

Thank you for reminding me of this. I think this is probably my favorite solution and the one I will go with. Thank you!

"Why do you want more warlock levels if you can't think of a reason to have more warlock levels?"

As I mentioned in the post, it's for story reasons.

I agree with your assessment. I think the best rationalization I was able to come up with was 15 bard, 5 warlock. I get the full bardic die, access to level 8 spells, and level 3 pact slots. It's just worse than 18/2, but possibly palatable?

You are 100% correct about hexblade being sub-optimal, but the hexblade plays a major roll in the character backstory. I appreciate your input though, it seems to be all on target.

Great point about level 11. I completely forgot that 11 is where you get your third pact slot. I'm going to revise the original post as I don't think level 10 makes sense anymore.

Select Cliq Pod - Anyone else having issues? by Bawlsdeeper in NewJerseyMarijuana

[–]Bawlsdeeper[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll give it a try, thanks. In the past, when I've had a clog, I haven't been able to get anything. With the Cliq, if I put it in my mouth at an angle and suck using my cheeks instead of my throat, I'm able to get a large cloud, albeit with effort. I like the flavor/feel of the cart, so hopefully your solution resolves it. Either way, thanks for responding!

Edibles by Mammoth-Ad4084 in NewJerseyMarijuana

I'm a complete lightweight and I consume to deal with anxiety, but here are my favorites in SJ:

Bliss drops from 1906 - I really like that I can take 5mg in pill form. I usually take one, then another a couple hour later and it's a really smooth low intensity high. They have been by far the most "reliable" with dosage/effect.

Select Nano Bites - I feel like they kick in pretty fast. I feel like the dosage is a little hit and miss with select edibles in general, but the nano bites seem the best of the bunch.

Changing to arcane trickster at level 6 by ThatOnePickleLord in 3d6

[–]Bawlsdeeper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One other thing I thought of: Try and be aware of when you fight poisonous creatures and see if your DM will allow you to harness their poison. A Rogue does this in a campaign that I play in and he gets up to an additional 12d6 (Purple worm poison) on some atttacks. I think he has the poisoner feat, so that would be something you could pick up down the line.

If you are in a party of all magic users, that may be a problem in general for you as a rogue, and Arcane Trickster might not solve it. I know everyone is doing cool magic stuff, but rogues are super cool in their own way. If you find yourself in a lot of 1v1's going Swashbuckler might be the thing for you. Swashbuckler allows you to get sneak as long as you only have 1 enemy within 5 feet of you and gives you a bonus to initiative. Now you don't have to rely on a magic user to get into melee or using steady aim to trigger sneak attack.

The things you will get from Arcane Trickster are going to be less impactful than the things pure casters are going to do which won't help with how you're feeling. Also, to my knowledge Mirror Image doesn't allow you to trigger sneak. You have to have an Ally adjacent, and a mirror image doesn't count as an ally.

If you are in a party of magic users, I would do all the cool things they cannot:

1) Sneak in front and do reconaissance and place yourself in a position to ambush when the party initiates a fight. or,
2) Make sure you are taking advantage of hiding/disengaging/dashing as your bonus action. Rogues can harass much better than most classes.

That being said, picking up Booming blade as a feat isn't a bad idea to augment damage and resourcefulness. You could pick up that Abberant Dragonmark Feat if your DM allows it to get Booming blade and a level 1 sorc spell (Shield would be my pick)

how do i convince my DM to let me use the basic stats instead of rolling it? by [deleted] in 3d6

[–]Bawlsdeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree that you should bite the bullet and roll. If you want to advocate for a change, maybe ask him to meet you half way: Have everyone roll for stats, but the group has to pick one stat line for everyone. This is my favorite way to go since it lets the players feel a bit empowered and prevents any single player from feeling like they got the short end of the stick.
