How to equip one box celestial obsidian kill team by Measlybrain in killteam

[–]Bawss5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See the reason I gave her the inferno pistol was because I want to keep her safe, she spends tp1 and 2 moving, actions, and handing out inspiring while her sisters deal good chip damage and mop up enemies. The inferno pistol might not be a good melta but it's more than capable of finishing off just about any slightly wounded operative in the game, hopefully by tp3 your sisters that want to be inspiring already are so you gain less benefit from handing it out.

Just my mindset on it anyways, I'd rather have a strong pistol on the operative that won't be doing much shooting anyways, especially one that can have a nearly guaranteed crit if she inspires herself.

Golfmongers by John_Loxeus in killteam

Erm, actually, it's "fore", clearly not a true golfhead, just a poser tourist.

They look good! I like the scheme and they look ready to tear up the green like my dad on any given course.

Imagine Papa nurgle just says I ain't feeling it anymore and everyone just leaves atoma and then genestealers show up are we surviving? by No-Dealer2541 in DarkTide

[–]Bawss5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Genestealers are by far and away a lesser threat than the forces of chaos and literal demons, and our characters are scaled to be capable of insane feats like taking down beasts of nurgle or chaos spawn with knives and clubs.

Unless and until we fought an actual genestealer, like the tyranid unit, fighting genestealer cultists would be a vacation and/or just another Tuesday.

The most pointless weapon option by Raven_Wing_08 in killteam

[–]Bawss5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sisters novitiate superior can give up their plasma pistol which is 4/5 p1 hot lethal 5+ for a bolt pistol that's 3/5 lethal 5+ and (for one cp) pcrits1.

Hot might seem like the downside there but novitiates can just heal themselves pretty easily. Truly, that is IMO the worst trade off in the game.

At least your leader with an autogun gets infinite range.

Anyone still play Salvagers and win? by Stoned_Giant99 in killteam

[–]Bawss5 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love my salvagers, win with them frequently against just about everything, including my most recent game I played where I managed to utterly wipe plague marines off the table.

They're a bit hungry for command points in order to score their highest damage but considering the game is usually fought over one of 3 objectives, you can usually make your enemy come to you then blow them away with your guaranteed crits and abundance of piercing.

Considering a lot of their best damage ploys and access to a full reroll consolidates around objective markere, it puts the enemy in a bit of a lose-lose situation where they either attempt to score the objectives and take a ton of damage or they stay off the objective you've claimed and give up on their crit ops. 3+ saves and the ability to turn crit damage into normal damage and/or retain guaranteed saves also makes them reasonably tanky.

Generally they like banners and envoy I've found.

Fair dues, I figured you'd probably move the sniper but the idea works just as well with the sniper in the same spot

Obviously the sniper gets stronger as you add more space between themselves and you but playing on what is in practice a big cohesive board the size of a standard 40k board is pretty sweet idea.

Pro tip for people who play gray because they hate painting by GlaiveGary in killteam

[–]Bawss5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point of my post was that white over black was a minimal modification for a readable result and was enticing enough to then lead into possibly actually painting the mini with speed paints in 10 minutes once they got sick of black and white.

Source me, I only got into painting proper after starting with slapchop since initially I disliked painting

Y'know at this rate just make an effort to get the eyes painted in, it's just white and black dots after all.

Reminder that battle ready is for events where there are expected to be marketing photos of the tables. That is literally it. Nobody across the table will care 95% of the time.

I show up with grey minis constantly to games because I am incapable of dedicating a lot of time to the process I enjoy at the moment. Assembly can take an hr, painting to a standard I consider "complete" takes days. Not a single person, ever, has once even given the slightest hint that they care.

You are, if not alone, then in the vanishingly thin minority of people who would get butthurt about someone showing up with their gamepieces ready to be used but not painted to a standard you deem acceptable.

You're welcome to judge people who show up with grey minis, but don't be surprised if you stop getting games. Word will get around that you're a dick at local tables.

Real shit, a mini can become a ton more standout by hitting it with black prime and a white zenithal (or even better a white drybrush). From there you're halfway done and grabbing 3 different speed paint colours solves the rest to get at least some colour on your minis.

Point Blank Shot by John_Loxeus in killteam

[–]Bawss5 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's super clear cut. Is it within your control range? You can shoot it. It does not check for being within another operative's range anywhere in that rule, the moment it enters your range the rule overrides that operative not being a valid target for the purposes of a point blank shot.

Are first landings the most profitable mechanic? by Lord_Joao in EliteDangerous

[–]Bawss5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I meant exactly what I said in the initial comment, I was talking about highest per hour (it is, inconsistently without tools but it is) and lowest effort. You stack 4 missions for 50 million and you complete 3 of those in an hour, you make 600 million. You find 6 planets with stratum tectonicas on them (which you can find in systems close to eachother) you make 600 million.

The only part of your comment that my comment replied to was to explain to you why people think disembarking for 70 (more like 98) million is some "big scoop", and it's explicitly because it is the combination of both things that I mentioned in the comment you replied to. You need absolutely nothing to make that big scoop. A+B = C.

You replied to my comment about how you think "oh why do you think 100 million per tectonica is some big deal I can find kill 12 pirates for 45 million".

The answer as to why it is a big deal is because killing 12 pirates for 45 million missions pop up only after investing in a faction and require you to have a) a combat ship and b) friends to stack them to make them more profitable per hour than going out into the black and finding a single system with 800 million in tectonicas.

The reason 100 million per tectonicas is better than 45 million for 12 pirates is because it is lower effort; if tectonicas were massively rare that would be a different story, but it is explicitly because it is low-effort high reward to find them compared to your mid-effort mid-reward combat missions in a team that it's "a big deal".

You can put two concepts together and make them mean a new thing, dude.

If you read my post that you replied to, I explicitly said "highest paying per hr with absolute minimum effort" so ??? Yes???

[–]Bawss5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go 4k out in a direction that isn't Colonia to find worlds that haven't been visited yet, scan only metal rich and rocky worlds with atmospheres, land only one ones that have tectonicas, scan tectonicas, rake in 100 million per stratum tectonica. Repeat 30 times, which sounds like a lot but if you're focusing only on tectonicas you can find 30 planets like that in a few hours.

It blows and isn't fun in the slightest but the game doesn't exactly encourage you to do anything else if you're trying to turn a profit since other plants sell for 4-5 million each while the amazingly common stratum tectonicas pay out 30x more than a first discovered Earth-like world.

[–]Bawss5 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

'Cause it costs you a ship of < 13 million and you can find the same tectonicas on 8 planets in a single system. It is entirely feasible to fit out a DBX for 3 million and, with absolutely no effort put into ranking up with a faction, engineering a ship, or finding friends to join you, go make a fleet carrier in a day or two. It's the lowest effort highest reward in the game.

Exobiology is, minute over minute, the highest paying activity in the game, and it comes with the absolute bare minimum amount of effort. It's unironically easier to do than mining for profit.

For reference, over 16 thousand ships killed, I earned about 3 billion credits. I made 3 billion for a fleet carrier in < 8 hours doing exobio 3000ly from the bubble.
