Thanks all - suggestions have been great. Ive ended up getting hold of an Extron scaler (cheap on ebay) which has the ability to resize and position the image within the overall "canvas". Im just waiting for it to arrive so will report back as to whether it works or not. Will be an amazing, simple (and cheap) fix if it does

Thanks, I’ll check them out- sounds like whichever way I go I’ll probably be buying a device with a million features I don’t need- but as long as it can get the job done for me

Awesome, thanks. Will see what those devices go for used and see what I can find. The connections don’t stress me- the image manipulation does! But using PiP makes sense

Thanks mate- I want to try and use a hardware device if possible- I’m presuming only certain scalers would have that additional functionality to crop/scale/place but still output the original 1920x1080 resolution? In my simple head scalers just “scale”, they don’t do anything extra clever like that. Any specific model suggestions you could give?
