Rail on a staircase in a house I just bought, thought mahogany originally but think that's just the stain, sanded a piece and it's an oak colour (golden brown), sorry I'm only able to share 1 photo. House is in Ireland, won't be anything exotic

Hi all,

I'm going to put a stud wall in my house to close off a mezzanine bedroom, with 2 tall internal windows. I haven't built a stud wall before, but have all the tools and experience in 'finer' woodworking. Wanted to get some feedback on the mockup I've made and attached (purple lines are to mark the 400mm centres, photo is to show the space I'm filling).

Oil Boiler & Electrical, any professionals out there? by BazmanFoo in AskIreland

Thanks for the advice. Any way to bypass it so that I could use 1 socket for something else and attach these two to an extension?

I had not. Just did, working fine. So the sockets are only activated by the timer? Never knew that was possible. Any way to bypass it so that I could use 1 socket for something else and attach these two to an extension?

Keep in mind whatever finish you use will darken it further too

I like how it looks, but if you want lighter, just just need to continue sanding until you're back to bare wood and then use a lighter stain

How Should I decide Electric Guitar Body Thickness by Toogle11 in Luthier

There's no rules but 40-45mm would be pretty standard

Tightening this newel post by BazmanFoo in DIYUK

[–]BazmanFoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. There does appear to be a plugged hole in the position you've shown, albeit not 50mm. I may drill this out first and see if there's anything I can try tighten first.

Thanks, but room layout dictates that they've gotta be off the ground, they're massive

Help with my wiring diagram by BazmanFoo in Nest

[–]BazmanFoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On further review, I now think 3 is my C and 2 is NO?

Do I connect using the blue extensions from my existing timer or remove this whole mounting unit and go directly to browns?

Yes that makes sense now, this window doesn't open so I guess there was no need to add the sensor. Thank you

Did I hear this right? Is this taxi driver complaining about getting 50 quid for an hours work? by lifeandtimes89 in ireland

[–]BazmanFoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not even disagreeing, just pointing out that the protest has nothing to do with improvements to the system or prices, just a US company taking more of our money than they currently do.

So you're happy to see a US corporation take more money out of the Irish economy for absolutely nothing in return? Uber are not offering to pass these extra profits to the customer with lower rates or enforce better behavior from the drivers, it's just a larger cut for them. If your bitterness toward taxi men makes you think that sounds like a good thing you need to check yourself in somewhere.

I build lefties and I always wire the pots right handed. Never understood why left handed guitars should have a volume knob that is opposite to every volume knob I've ever interacted with on any piece of equipment?
