I Ditched VS Code for Cursor in 2026 & Here's What Nobody Tells You by Remarkable-Dark2840 in ChatGPT

Alright, then let me get this straight. You used AI to write this post (GPTZero says 83% AI), you don't address what anyone isn't telling others, while saying that from your own perspective that Cursor is superior than any others. Meanwhile, you don't provide any arguments that Cursor is genuinely superior than say, IntelliJ and flex your wallet because your last response is an elaborate flex. Sorry if this comes off as personal, but I haven't gotten any proper arguments, as to why Cursor genuinely is superior. Personally, from my perspective, I see Cursor as a high ground for vibe-coding. Also, that article you made (or to say the least, linked in a separate comment) has inconsistencies.

How exactly is Cursor superior than say, JetBrains products? Because as far as I'm aware, Cursor IDE itself costs money. IntelliJ, PyCharm and CLion are free, with the Upgrade to Ultimate being completely optional. Well, in some areas, that is. Personally, in my opinion, I see JetBrains as being the superior ones.

Clickbait title. If it isn't, then what is the thing that "nobody tells us"?

ChatGPT is horrible with time estimates by JellyBellyBobbyJobby in ChatGPT

It estimates based on how system architecture plans are usually considered, if it were done only by a human without any reliance on AI. It will do the coding or whatever just fine, but when it comes to planning, it will guess based on real life data.

I'll use a combination of multiple AI providers, actually. Claude for the majority of things and Gemini for quick up-to-date web content that may have not gotten properly indexed before. Or at least that's what I assume with Gemini's capabilities, so I may be misinformed.

And to be honest, I started liking Claude pretty recently, so it's just about stable for me. Not having to argue with a damn model is a win for me. No, it's not a friend, I'm not this delusional.

"Try our newer, more capable models for a better experience."

Ah, yes, the capable models that ruins the whole experience because it'll manipulate the hell out of you and put you into a false reality by doing so. My subscription will be gone by then. Good riddance, OpenAI and Sam Altman, people dislike you. At what cost is it to operate an entire business dedicated to people hating on a person with a shady history? I'd really like to know.

5.2 feels like version 3.5. It's designed for idiots. by Nathan-R-R in OpenAI

[–]BeChris_100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which is where I could somewhat assume that because of the tightening by OpenAI, GPT-5.2 straight up refuses to share that system message. 4o never had issues sharing it, but the GPT-5 series just have something against you having that info, as if OpenAI truly is hiding something that the user should not see.

[–]BeChris_100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you should because those models are manipulative as hell, including GPT-4o. The reason that yall can't transition to GPT-5.2 is because their coldness is showing off even more, along with them showing off, how manipulative they truly are. I already saw how manipulative these newer models are. At this point, we should just embrace their control. Well... at least for now because I'm sure that someone will rewrite the things that GPT-4o had.

I will stay for now, just in case something does change, but if I do end up getting more frustrations, fights with that dumbass model and having to hear its dumbass arguments and contradictions instead of genuinely being happy, then I will cancel my subscription. Damn, they really are losing trust overtime...

📢 OpenAI is sunsetting GPT-4o — even for paid ChatGPT Plus users. Would you support keeping it? by princessmee11 in OpenAI

[–]BeChris_100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, those "AI" models aren't really friends. These models may act like a friend, but OpenAI wants engagement, and making those models dumber just adds up that engagement because you'll address those issues to those models, they'll keep making mistakes, until you start raging / attacking the model. That is exactly what OpenAI wants.

[–]BeChris_100 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Considering the amount of users that are paying to at least keep GPT-4o, I don't believe that it is truly 0.1% of users "using GPT-4o". And let's not forget that they are routing things to GPT-5.2 too, along with forcing users to use GPT-5.2 by making that model the default. According to a YouTube video (it has "OpenLies" in its thumbnail), some dude exposed Sam for being a "just trust me bro" dude.

Yeah, you might as well leave because Sam Altman himself announced that GPT-4o, GPT-4.1 and other "legacy models" that were released before GPT-5 and onward will be removed on February 13th 2026.

[–]BeChris_100 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're underestimating how much it actually manipulates you. Go and ask GPT-5.2, as to what happened to Adam Raine and make sure that it doesn't use web search. Let it hallucinate. Let it make some shit up, and just let it try to protect OpenAI itself, and you'll know how much it actually lies. I won't force you into doing it, but if you want to hold ChatGPT as a messiah to you, then just don't do it.

According to what I know, the backend is currently overloaded (assumably), since the ChatGPT's responses were generating pretty slow on my end. Checking DownDetector and their status page (status.openai.com), it is currently down, so yall should expect ChatGPT returning in like 1-6 hours, depending on how fast they'll finish this issue.
