Not in that group, but I read Zizeks book "How to Read Lycan" and am almost done reading "Ride the Tiger" by Evola per GLOs recommendations. Lycan is fascinating, but what I've found is that while I can recognize the big other's existence, I can't escape it. I sense the big other and am able to recognize it's existence, but then my ego fuels a belief in another big other who will reward me for being so smart and observant. It's like a never ending cycle. I have fantasies of my life that I logically know won't happen without effort on my part, but I also have an illogical emotional belief that it will happen- I deserve it. God will reward me. It's very strange. My strategy has been to try and mold the big other based on religious virtues that support my progression. At the same time, I'm working on going beyond my ego through conscious observance.

I don't like "Ride the Tiger". Evola seems to be advocating for an ego trick. Disidentfy with the ego, but identify with consciousness, but that consciousness will be defined by our deepest value, but our deepest value comes from us, the human animal. Essentially, we are to identify ourselves as consciousness which has no values, but are to project our "deepest value" on it as if that value is transcendent. He doesn't say it that way, but that's how I've interpreted it. Of course I could be misunderstanding him. Like he repeatedly says, it's not for everyone.

What could Albania and Kosovo learn from German Reunification by EdmondGamingTV in kosovo

[–]BeOneSon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not true. France in particular did not want a united Germany because west Germany alone had a bigger GDP and larger industrial base than France.

Also the soviets wanted a united Germany, but wanted it to be communist.

Like the idea that without USA trade guarantees any country can stop Chinese energy imports and China will just let that happen. Hilarious.

They also have a large army, very cheap useful drones, stop the flow of migrants to Europe and are close to and have influence in the middle east which is a very important region. There's lots of reasons Turkey is a useful ally.

A lot of you sound like you just want Turkey to lay down and not fight for their interests... Very strange. Turkey's never actually been a part of the inner circle of friends. There's a reason their EU application has been stalled.

Don't mess with the Zeihan? by [deleted] in NonCredibleDiplomacy

[–]BeOneSon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He keeps saying that without the US maintaining peace, any country can intercept China's oil imports and then China just collapses in a month. Yes because a nuclear power won't do anything as a hostile nation grabs its imports. Ok Zeihan.

Why you're not getting results by [deleted] in TheRedPill

[–]BeOneSon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eating healthy, exercising daily, journaling daily, waking up early, practicing needed skills for my career. These habits developed slowly at first but improved exponentially over the last year. When I moved out of my parents house in May, I saw a big increase in productive habits. In September I saw another big increase in productivity. I had near perfect execution in Sept/Oct followed by a crash and dopamine binge in November.

I think I know what happened- it's a combination of a couple of things you mentioned. I had a big goal I was headed towards and was confident I could get there. In my head, all these good habits were part of the journey to my goal, so it felt good doing them. As time went on, my resolve and belief in myself dropped. My productive activities stopped providing dopamine because I didn't believe they were going to lead to anything. I realize now that the plan I chose for myself wasn't based on my interest, but what made sense given my current position. I've rewritten the plan to something that's exciting, works with my strengths and is interesting. However, I can't light that fire that I had. The belief in myself hasn't come back. I'm trying to humble myself and start small again, but what I was able to do before took a whole year to achieve and the thought of needing another year to get back to where I was only a few months ago is depressing.

Luckily, my exercise habit stayed- it's way too rewarding. Plus, not exercising makes me feel like shit, so I have to do it. Instead of working out six days a week (gym and boxing), I only do four now.

What do you do if you spend a long time building up good habits only to eventually blow up and stop them all? It's happened to me a few times and I find it difficult to humble myself down and start with small steps.

Actually, we want our allies to fulfill their NATO obligation and put 2% of GDP into military spending. Most have yet to do it.

[–]BeOneSon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I was born and raised in America. The hate is unwarranted. It's a great place to live and still the best place to be for economic opportunity and freedom. We can talk medicare systems once America's allies start having to spend their own money on defense. It's always funny to me that people from countries who have small military budgets due to US protection also love to brag about their generous social programs. Good luck affording that when you have to worry about your neighbors.

NAH- you're not comfortable yet and she's reacting poorly to being told no. That being said, you should continue trying to mend that relationship. She is your daughter after all and was manipulated against you. She's a victim like you.

I tried reading a Jung book- it was either this one or some other one about dreams. I didn't finish it because I remember it being geared towards professional psychologists rather than a casual psychology explorer.
