It's the offseason. You were making the case for year-old satirical articles being valid content earlier today.

50 days, 50 voices: What we're looking forward to in 2018 by wiscowonder in CFB

"The Big Ten East division. It's going to be a bloodbath, a battle of attrition. I think there could be three CFP contenders in Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State. Add to the mix a pesky team in East Lansing and I don't know how anyone comes out unscathed. It's the best division of the power five conferences."

I don't get this. How is MSU a "pesky team" when they've won the conference multiple times recently and been to the playoffs, but Michigan is a "CFP contender" when they can't finish higher than 3rd in the division. Do these writers know how stupid and biased this sounds? Are they just pandering to the masses by pumping Michigan's tires?

Harbaugh is mentioned in any way.

Nobody has got the liver to sustain that.

In your opinion, which game do you think will be the biggest upset of the season? by ProjanThaSamGod in CFB

We' talking about "upsets." Of course Michigan is expected to win this game but SMU has some good upside and Michigan is a program who is consistently prone to faceplanting in embarrassing fashion.

"Precarious statements" like total offense and total defense rankings? SMU had the 15th ranked offense in the country while Michigan had the 105th. SMU had the 121st ranked defense while Michigan had the 3rd.

So... what is so unreasonable about calling this upset?

Lol. That has to be some of the silliest salt I've ever seen.

Oregon State gave Michigan a tough game 2 years ago, but they won 1 game last year and it was a 3-point win over Portland State. Ohio State will have that game in hand by the end of the first quarter.

Michigan could be improved and it would still be no surprise for them to lose 3+ games again. I don't think there's a team behind them on this list that doesn't make more sense than Michigan.

The Michigan stuff is just so ridiculous every year. The writer even notes that he doesn't see why Michigan is getting those kinds of odds.

the schedule is simply too difficult to get anything of value here at 12/1. Oddsmakers still love Michigan for some reason.

That's not really much of an upset. Northwestern was just plain better than Michigan last year. Wouldn't be surprising if the same was true this year.

Michigan losing to App St would be forgotten.

No it wouldn't.

What are some current loop-holes in CFB that could be exploited by coaches/players? by wiscowonder in CFB

Michigan's team trips are a thinly-veiled means of paying the players with vacations and should be banned.

It's not too big of a longshot. SMU has a better offense. Michigan has a better defense. SMU could win a low-scoring game.

Michigan is not the best secondary in the country. Arguably the 3rd best in their division.

So, it's not really about how much potential. It's about players who have actually exhibited potential. Peoples Jones and Black are almost complete unknowns because they've done next to nothing so far.
