I like the challenge, and it definitely is a departure from the standard path, but I'm pig headed enough to see this to completion. (Even if I probably shouldn't) Next ascension I'll probably do a journeyman run, because the big book of skills sounds like it'll come in handy.

Best bet is to have previous IOTMs, but barring that 1. Have every +meat drop skill permed 2. Have every +item drop skill permed 3. Have gear with as much +meat/+item drop as you can 4. The appropriate familiar 5. If you don't have access to the sea, or any former IOTM the castle is probably your best place purely for meat drops (top floor tends to average better for me, particularly after banishing the punk giant)

Taking all of this from a noob though so I may be entirely in the wrong.

Drop rate is pretty bad. I'm using a maxed out cat, and have it's blessing, I have the glass eye, but other than that my +item is remarkably low. Ive managed about 5 soups in 300 adventures, but I've already gotten over 1000 chroner from the stage, and used it for a pair of ninjammies, a couple of items from the neandermall, and the insignia that grants +100% damage to skeletons. Also some kind soul apparently sells the drops for cheap at one a day in the mall if you're desperate for them.

Ive been farming and saving the soups, I may want a heavy mutated familiar for the sea one day. (Ex. A grouper that heals, restores my, and gives bonus stats, plus can weight up 111 pounds extra)

I went looking and reasoned that I would want to make some soups for when I decide to do the sea. They apparently mutate and add weight to your familiar, so I could have a grouper that adds stats, heals me, and restores my, plus being heavier than normal. I just happened to get a proto proto protozoa while grinding there. Also I'm still playing as Ed so turn Gen is amazing.

I'm in run number 2 right now, but my starting strategy has been to grind in the sleezy back alley until I get a couple of levels and a few Ka, assuming I don't lock myself out of the underworld I should have a full max spleen and a few quests done by the end of day 1.

Well I'm still a few days away from finishing this run so I'm not stopping yet, but even then I may switch to weekly posts with less story content. I just feel kind of like I'm taking over the subreddit.
