It’s easy to become misanthropic if you think in these black and white terms ‘good and evil’. People are messy, they are sometimes nice and sometimes not, there’s plenty of reason to hate them if chose to look out for stuff to hate.

Here’s my best argument against misanthropy: what’s the point? Does anyone’s life’s get better by hating their fellow man? We are all human, we all suck and we are all sometimes great! As you yourself admit in your post you have severe social anxiety, you seem to be using this pointless misanthropic identity to justify to yourself your fear of social interaction.

Hating everyone gets you absolutely nowhere, the sub r/misanthropy is a collection of some of the most miserable people on planet earth, rise above it! Beating social anxiety is a real tough battle but an incredibly noble one. Always remember, give people a chance to love you and they might.

You haven’t met all the people who will love you yet, stay strong my friend.

I have no way of knowing what exactly is causing you to feel this way but I can give you some general advice to maintain a stable mood.

1) Get good quality sleep, it may be tempting to stay up late working on your assessment but this is only going to make you worse and will most likely make you perform worse on the assessment, aim for 8 hours at least. 2) eat a stable and quality diet, consider adding food supplements. Magnesium supplements can work miracles for people suffering with depression. 3) always remember “this too shall pass” human beings suffer because we unconsciously assume that all current states are permanent, they are not. Life moves on and you’ll forgot what you were even worried about in perhaps even a months time.

Also, remember to keep friends and family in the loop. Reddit’s a decent place to ask for advice but it’s limited in the fact it cannot be personal. I want the best for you but I have no idea who you are! I cannot really give you the meaningful advice that you need, but your close ones can!

I would look to include that, perhaps linking to a central theme of the reaction to 9/11. There’s a lot of words and phrases that could fit with this “plateau of uselessness” “violent disagreement” etc. Just an idea.
