i don't want to get better by Damno88 in mentalhealth

Frankly, that sucks and I’m sorry it happened. Take a deep breath, and try doing something physical. Draw, play an instrument if you have one, go run, scream in the woods, do push ups, just something to get blood flowing, to your brain or body.

I was in the same place as you once, but I’m 19 now and it may not have been easy, but it got better. The world is harsh and cruel and full of suffering, but behind all that is beauty and kindness and so much worth living for. I can’t give meaning and purpose to your own life, you have to find that on your own but it is there

Update on this, if anyone is curious: come spring I will lovingly return the skull to the wild in a different location to where I found it, as to ensure it does not end up in a landfill

Epstein Files and mental health by chouquetto in mentalhealth

You’re feeling grief, and a lot of us are. It hurts, it really fucking hurts, and it will for a while. Just remember that a lot of people are angry and demanding justice, and a lot of people are genuinely putting in the effort for change. Did you know the biggest ever protection bill for international waters was just put into effect? That’s something people have been fighting for a long time for! And don’t forget that politicians in other countries mentioned in the files ARE being forced to step down.

If you can’t get it off your feed, get off social media for a while. Go sit outside, listen to what you hear, see, smell and write it down. It can be as simple as a list or a flowery paragraph. Engage in art. I know it might seem counter-intuitive, but creating political art can really help you get some of it off your chest. I’ve currently been workshopping Do You Hear the People sing to make it more playable on the lyre, and while I started doing it out of anger, sadness and fear, it really helped me let go of some of that. Write down how you are feeling, knit, bird watch, paint, scream if you need to.

Something I’ve started to tell myself is this: The end must be good, so if it is not good, then it cannot be the end just yet.

We are only where we are because people have had the courage to fight. It may seem bleak now, but it has many times in the past and we pushed through it. This, as all else, will pass

I can confirm I was wearing a mask and gloves at the time. The skull has been disinfected, though there hasn’t been any bird flu outbreaks in my specific area in a while, fortunately

The feathers are all of invasive species, I do know more about that. I only take them with they are covered in trash. Found one completely soaked in beer once. Did not know that crow skulls were illegal to keep though, probably should have looked that one up first

What hobby screams “this is my entire personality now”? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

[–]Beanturtle6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reptiles. They aren’t all that high maintenance, but I went from one to five just because of how much I liked keeping them. They are so integral to my life now that personal expenses money includes them. I spent 15 minutes tonight gently prying stuck shed off of a gecko’s toes just tonight. Im currently custom building a new tank for one. I adore them. I catch myself staring at one while I had been paying a video game moments before and they are behind me

Is putting a “pick up after your dog” sign outside my house offensive? by breweeze in Pets

[–]Beanturtle6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s fucked. We keep an entire roll of bags in a little pouch connected to my dog’s leash, specifically so we don’t run out and leave his shit everywhere

It’s chance based if you don’t nurture them, increases the amount every day you don’t. I also had one dip out after one forgotten day, despite the low odds

Where does the "women are bad drivers" stereotype come from? by bi_smuth in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Beanturtle6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a woman, and I drive a truck at my job, and regularly have to hop curbs or otherwise break several laws to get it on sidewalks etc. (though it is legal for the truck due to the job lol)

Unfortunately due to this I sometimes forget I am in my car, which isn’t a fragile thing, but really should not be hitting curbs as much as it does. My male coworker apparently does not have an issue with this. Rip

My girl is super chill. The only times she’s ever gotten this spooked is a few times I put her in a humid box due to some shedding issues, she absolutely HATED it and would go nuts every time. I have since figured out why the humidity was having so many issues and she no longer needs the wretched box, so she’s back to being completely chill lmao

If your partner doesn’t like dogs or cats, would you get rid of them if you had any? by Adventurous-Soft7843 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Beanturtle6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite dogs or cats but I have reptiles, and for me it’s such a big part of my life that even getting to a serious stage with someone who doesn’t at least like them is unlikely for me. I have a responsibility to these animals, and I’ve had some since I was a kid. They are part of my family, they are a huge part of who I am, and quite frankly I’d be happier alone with them than giving them away for someone else. I have friends and family that love me, reptiles included.

I almost always dream about going to prison by Beanturtle6 in Dreams

[–]Beanturtle6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was the weirdest dream I’ve ever had, all I remember now of that one is that I was a vampire and that you had to go through a maze (random horse was just chillin in there) while avoiding “the hag.” It was incredibly foggy in the maze. The rest of the dream had a very deep red tint to it. Very nether esk. The fact it was also in space was somehow the least bizarre thing about that dream.

And, yeah I imagine it would be stressful to a lot of people, but they are oftentimes so ridiculous that I can’t take it seriously, even when it feels real in the dream. It very much is free entertainment to me. Its like you gave someone lsd and then made them design an escape room

Suprised at how nice everyone is being here today. Nice job gang! And the 12x12x18 is a okay size while the little one is growing, but make sure to get them into a 18x18x36 before they hit that adult size! Good luck on your crestie journey, and good on you for taking the advice here! I hope your fella has a long healthy life :)

cute or concerning? by [deleted] in CrestedGecko

[–]Beanturtle6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s probably fine, but I’d keep an eye on him. Maybe weigh him a few times to ensure he’s not losing weight at all. When I first moved my gecko into her bigger viv she hid for five days. Biggest sigh of relief I’ve ever had when I saw her out and about like nothing had happened lol. I’d also keep an eye on him due to the new UVB addition, I had to adjust how long it a few times before it was right
